Unless it’s one of the current injured players it looks like we’re another man down tomorrow now one of our players has tested positive for COVID!

I love old news, I do! Lol, that’s because you are old Lakeland.😉 I guess it’s mentioned on other threads and didn’t deserve it’s own thread. Being a busy man even in lockdown I’ve only just read it and thought I’d share it.🤣

All football needs to stop with immediate effect if the virus is as bad as we are being told. It goes against everything we are being told to do, keep 2 mtrs apart, not travel etc etc. People will argue that regular testing is the reason it can go ahead, but what good is that doing? More and more games being called off but thats only like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Many on here are still going to work and work indoors Top level sports are closely monitored Things have to continue But how do you social distance when playing football? Top level sports especially football is just a breedimg ground for the virus, as is evident from the amount of recent postponements. Yet it carrys on with these players mixing with a different set of players every week. Going home to their families and loved ones, do they get tested regularly? It just goes against everything we are being told. Add in the ambulances in attendance at every game up and down the country which surely isnt a good use of NHS services whilst its on its arse. During the first lockdown we were grateful for shopworkers, delivery drivers, postmen, teachers and obviously not to mention NHS staff. It became clear how important these people are to everyday life not the football superstars. Well it didnt take long to forget!

They don't have to social distance because they have all been tested and they haven't got covid.

If football stops it stops as once it’s stopped it won’t restart so it has to continue as there’s no give in the system for it to restart ....They are no threat as they are tested two, three times per week and if they are positive they are taken out It’s safe Lee

These blokes aren't just mixing with their team mates and other footballers, which is the burning issue here. The situation is getting worse by the day and more and more footballers/clubs staff are catching and spreading this virus, and whilst the rest of the country are in severe restrictions it doesnt quite sit right with me that non-essential stuff like football is still ongoing.

Not if we go off what the government is telling us. The virus is getting worse, this new strain is spreading rapidly. So why are 22 players allowed to go and be in contact with each other for that to multiply week on week. And thats just the people on the field. Factor in subs, manager, coaches medical team etc. Also as ive already mentioned ambulances in attendance at every game. The NHS is struggling does its service need to be stretched further by being in attendance of people kicking around a bag of wind?

EFL clubs are to be be tested twice a week (Monday and Thursday) starting today.
If cases rise rapidly in testing process and behaviour is not adhered to then the EFL could well be suspended.

Are we tip-toeing towards another stoppage? Feels like it doesn’t it. Some clubs will have a lot of games to fit in between now and the end of the season.

Another one bites the dust The phrase I find worrying about the EFL announcements is the bit that says ..subject to an investigation in line with EFL rules.. As I said on the James McLean thread if we did have an incident the EFL wouldn't take to kindly to breaches or poor compliance. I hope Stoke are all over this and squeaky clean. If something happens unavoidably that's one thing but poor behaviour is another.
