Surely the last 12 months have shown life’s too short not to take the occasional risk? Go all out. This is the kind of game MON has built his career on. Odds stacked against him. Find a way to win against all expectations. It’s a no brainer. Go for it. Nah. The league and promotion is the most important thing. This couldn’t be less significant if it tried and we can still put out a good side. Lonergan Smith Shawcross Batth Fox Mikel Thompson Verlinden TOB McClean Brown Good team

Lonergan
Smith Souttar Shawcross Fox
Cousins Thompson
Ince Mikkel. McClean
Brown
We have to go for it, it's a quarter final but Powell, Collins, Chester have played too many games and Fletcher is not fully fit.

Every other team bar Brentford in the league will have a week off so how would you approach the Spurs game? I’d go with 11 changes (if we can) myself. Is it too soon for Clucas and Allen to come back? Am I correct in thinking Bursik is cup tied? The other two keepers are still injured so Lonergan is going to have to play: Lonergan Collins Batth Shawcross Fox Cousins Mikel Booth Verlinden Brown Ince I’d probably swap Collins for Smith so as to rest Collins for league games. It’s more likely that McClean will be playing than Verlinden also.

How’s it not significant? Win and we’re in the semi final. Because it’s the league cup and it should be abolished? Meaning our one and only major domestic trophy becomes null and void? Nah. Win this, Brentford or Newcastle in the semi final. Upset the odds in the final and we win it for a second time. Stranger things have happened....I think!

He loves it, he mentions his Carling/League Cup wins alongside his Champions League wins in every other Press Conference. I don't agree. I remember him speaking once, I think when he was still with Chelsea and he was doing a pre match press conference before an Arsenal game. Chelsea were competing well in the Champions league, whilst Arsenal's last trophy had been a League Cup. Jose was quite disparaging about this, saying that Arsenal had won . . . ."something." whilst he continued to "win things". His priorities might well change and he is after a Premier League title.

0-4, as usual v Spurs!
Mourinho will be targeting this for his first piece of Tottenham silverware.

It’ll be interesting what lineup Spurs go with though I wouldn’t risk any players who aren’t 100 percent as injuries are already a big enough problem. It’s the sort of game where players raise there game.
Lonergan
Collins Chester Soutter Fox
Tymon Cousins
McClean TOB Verlinden
Brown (I wouldn’t risk Fletcher)

The best we can hope for, is it goes to Penalties. Not with our record of scoring and saving them....

Their back four is very susceptible to pace. Crying shame that we will hit them with Sammy Plank instead of Campbell.

I think Campbell would have given their left back such a run for his money, never mind Ince will rinse him😂😂

I think this result today, should it stay like this, will mean that Jose will be even more determined to get a Trophy on the mantelpiece. He loves this Trophy.
I'm pretty sure we will see Bale.

The best we can hope for, is it goes to Penalties. There’s an uncanny occurrence which usually happens when reserve keepers face a penalty shoot out. They usually end up being the hero! Will it be Lonergan or Blondy?

Spurs were poor today, stop Kane and son completely stops spurs, however I do think it's a step too far.

Fact of the matter is we’re playing a team who’ve lost two in a row. We’ve already beaten Villa who put 7 past Liverpool, and Wolves who disposed of Chelsea last week. Yes they both played reserve sides but so did we to an extent and so will Spurs. I’m looking forward to it

I think Smith will play right back, not sure it is the right game for Verlinden, Spurs will be big and strong whatever team they play, might be men against boys in certain positions, that said I expect us to raise our game and give them a tough game. we simply can not start Vokes, it immediately let's teams defend 20 yards further up the pitch from the off.
