Seems unlikely with 5 strikers on board already footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-man-city-stance-on-liam-delap-outlined-with-stoke-middlesbrough-millwall-all-keen/Stoke City will explore the possibility of signing Liam Delap on loan from Manchester City in the January window, with the Premier League side potentially open to doing such business mid-season, Football League World can reveal. Delap was the subject of a lot of speculation over the summer window, with a number of Championship clubs credited with an interest in him. Chief among them were the Potters, with them hoping to try and get a loan deal sorted for him before the market closed earlier this week. Football League World can reveal that, depending on how City’s season is going in the top flight this year, they could be open to letting Delap leave on loan in the January market, with them particularly open to him sealing a switch to Stoke for the second half of the season. The Blues currently plan on involving Delap in the first-team squad in the first weeks and months of the campaign but, if things are going well by January, they’ll then be willing to let him move away for a period.

It does but we have been chasing him for 12 months come that point and I was told the Chairman was desperate to get it done. So it could be an interesting one still, especially if we're in the hunt still and need goals.

One interesting snippet overheard during Manchester City’s Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth came from the vast team of analysts who furnish Pep Guardiola and his coaches with all types of information. “He’s like a wrecking ball,” one of them said during the 2-1 win last September. “He’s like nothing else we’ve got,” another added. The player that the two men were talking about was Liam Delap.
The “wrecking ball” description was right on the money. Delap was only 17 at the time, but with his hulking 6ft 1in frame he had no trouble dominating Bournemouth’s three-man defence on debut. He showed his technical ability that night too, sprinting past his marker and on to Phil Foden’s pass before sending a rocket of a shot into the top corner with his left foot.
Delap is a classic No 9 who enjoys bullying defenders and is lethal in the box. Although he is a tall, imposing figure, he is a skilful player who can play in tight areas, which is a must for any City player.
Had it not been for a foot injury that ruled him out of pre-season, Delap would have been in the match-day squad for City’s opening three matches. Now he is fully fit and in contention to face Leicester City a week on Saturday. City are not desperate for goals — they have scored ten in three matches — but Delap at least offers Guardiola an alternative option to using a false nine.

He's good enough.

Can't imagine there'll be many starts in the league - but you'd think there'd be a good chance he'll get a few sub minutes when they're winning comfortably.

It's a shame he's not eligible for the CL though without being named in their squad so that could be interesting too if they make room for him. Certainly a sign of intent with him.

He’s also the type of player in the January window who gives a team the last little push it needs for promotion. It shows a club would be serious and just gives everyone a lift to up their game. Personally I don’t think you can have too many strikers especially when one is more than likely going to be injured, one isn’t an out and out striker in Brown, one is unproven in this league and the other I think would be still feeling his way back and could have linked niggly injuries. So for me, if there is any possibility, get him in come January.

Campbell - Delap - Sima Thats DirtyGary talk that... It also depends on how well Surridge is performing. If he's been knocking in a few goals between now and January, there may be no need to upset the apple cart by bringing in Delap. A lot of emphasis is being put on Ty's return, but he's been out a long time and we don't know how long it'll take for him to get back up to speed.

what happened to the other 2 Liam Delap threads, could have sworn I saw another one an hour or so ago that wasn't the 7 or 8 page one already going, and had a couple of pages.

Campbell - Delap - Sima Thats DirtyGary talk that... Two loanees, one coming back from serious injury. Exciting, but not the most solid base for planning the future team make-up, is it?

Delap may be able to get into Man City's team at some point this season, but would he get into ours? If we are doing well after Christmas and our current forwards are firing, then surely the option to take Delap may not be desirable. If we have a settled team we may want to stick with it. Sorry Citeh but you had your chance and you blew it!

I’d imagine a Sims permanent fee would only be possible if we end up doubling (at least) what Brighton paid the year before.

He's been out for so long, so I don't think we'll see much of him this season. it was obviously a serious injury, which means it's not unlikely that he'll never be quite the same again.

Too early to say for definite, he could hit it off pretty quickly scoring goals with the amount of chances and quality of players to play with and the service they provide.
He might turn out to be a Harry Kane they allready had
