Well he needs to play week in week out so if he isn't going to be no. 1 here he need to go back to Doncaster, no point sitting on the bench.

He should be. If not he will be off to another club.

Yes, you do not drop players when they are in the form of their life (a short life admittedly!)
Will be interesting to see how Bursik responds with 2 excellent goalkeepers breathing down his neck
Its not our most pressing problem right now!!!

I can’t see how he can be anything else to be fair. It’s tough on Davies, but the lad has earned the shirt - no doubt about it. MON talks about merit, it’s Bursik’s shirt to lose. Undoubtedly he is the man in possession and how he responded to the shell shock of those first two games suggests he will handle the pressure of competition from Davies and Gunn.

Taken his chance brilliantly. Deserves to keep the shirt on merit and I think he will. If he keeps improving he's got a massive future ahead of him hopefully with us. He looks destined for the prem to me.

He's done all the ugly stuff very well.
Great to see his 1v1 save vs Forest but he's not been tested shot stopping wise for a while really, so it's tough to say.

I liked when we had Davies in, good communicator with the defence..... However, I think just dropping Bursik once all keepers are fit, after doing so well would only have a negative effect on the lad!!!
I'd be very tempted (if it's possible???) to allow Gunn to go back to Southampton and have Davies and Bursik as our two main keepers!!!
Q: are we allowed to terminate Gunn's loan, or do we have him for the season???

He’s getting better every game , if it’s not broke don’t change it

He’s getting better every game , if it’s not broke don’t change it If he gets dropped as soon as Davies is fit I think we will have a rightly so pretty pissed off young goalkeeper on our hands. Quite often careers of very young footballers are about luck and opportunity and its such a fine line for them. If we hadn't had all of these injuries we wouldn't even be talking about Bursik (similar can be said for Souttar). Collins is slightly different because a blind person can see that Nathan Collins will become a CL player before his mid twenties. Josef has had his lucky break and grabbed it with both hands. It is Bursik's shirt to lose.

When everyone Is fit then it’s still Joes shirt. The young fella has done remarkable. He really has been a breath of fresh air. I do feel for Davies as he was superb, but young Joe is our number 1 now

He's already proved he's past league 1 level see no point sending him back there, we aren't going down and probably lack the cutting edge to get promoted so I would keep him in the team either helps with experience for serious push next season and or increases his transfer value which could solve our ffp problems at a stroke.

Came here to say this. His reaction to that 1v1 save was class. And you can imagine something like that infront of the boothen would really get the crowd going. His shirt to lose for me. Although, I do think as a team, we are set up to protect him so I’d like to see him afforded a little less protection before me make the final decision.

I don't know about his shot stopping yet as he let a soft one in against Norwich, but in terms of the way he clears up behind his defence, and the way he deals with one-on-ones, and crosses, it's hard to think of anyone better. Absolutely superb

All these posts about sending him back on loan to Doncaster, what if they don't want him. They may prefer to back their current keeper, there's no way Joe is a long term prospect for them any more.

With Southampton potentially not interested in taking Gunn back and Joe unable to play for anyone apart from us and Doncaster it does mean we have a high chance of three 1st team keepers having started the season with none. Is there even a chance we may loan Davies out if Gunn doesn't go back?

Makes me laugh reading some of the things on here, After two games he was written off on here, now people are considering keeping him as number one once the other keepers are back. Same with MON, a couple of draws and boring performances after losing two of our main strikers and he is stinking the place out and is being compared to Pulis.
Wish people would reserve judgment sometimes and look at the bigger picture.

If he keeps playing like he is then don't you think it's his shirt to lose? I second what the others have said about needing to see more of his shot-stopping. He plays a bit as a sweeper keeper though, which helps cut how many shots he sees and it does mean he'll probably drop a bollock occasionally and get slated on here. Even Neuer messes up sometimes.

Even if he could go out on loan again this season he shouldn’t, there is no guarantee that Davies or Gunn won’t have a relapse of their injuries and they are not back yet anyway. Bursik should keep the shirt for now and hopefully until the end of the season.
The bigger question is who is in goal for us next season, if it’s not Bursik then a loan next season could be good for him, but he has been given the chance to make this shirt his and he’s going a great job so far, if he finishes this season as number one then he won’t want to go anywhere next season.
