Biggest Priority? Shift out the leaches. Wimmer, Bauer, and Ince are taking around £80,000 a week out the football club between them and doing nothing for it. If we can remove them somehow and replace them with one or two quality loans then it would make a huge difference to our options. agreed however I think that will be impossible other than loans where we get a very small percentage of wages paid

I live in hope of our reproducing something like that Keith Scott for Mike Sheron P/Ex deal that Lou managed to pull off a few years back.
Pearson for Vokes (or Ince) maybe (if it's correct that Pearson has only six months left on his contract, arms could be twisted).
But I won't be holding my breath. Life isn't usually that neat.

A hard-tackling, mobile central midfielder who can pass a ball more than 10 yards. Or, better still, two of them.

Two fullbacks, a striker, defensive mid and outgoings of Bauer, Wimmer, Vokes and Ince.

Ben Pearson. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but a nasty twat who can sit in front of the back four, tackle, and use the ball well would be a godsend. My thoughts immediately. He would be the Glenn Whelan of 2008 and could make the difference in going up or not.

Our manager is a huge admirer of Joe Rothwell at Blackburn Rovers. I gather he’s out of contract in the summer. Maybe not Tony Mowbray's first signing of the 2018 summer transfer window, Joe Rothwell signed a three-year deal with Rovers with the option of a fourth year.

Is he out of contract this season as well? His contract ends in June next year Currently earning around £8500 per week Think we would need to shift one of the likely lads to be able to improve on those wages. The mark Hughes gary rowett legacy continues to roll on

If we are serious about trying to go up we should chuck a few million at them for Pearson and Johnson.

Still left back for me, I said Fox would be shit but he's probably even worse than I expected. Don't mind him as the left centre half in a back three but he is never a fullback. I tend to agree, however, O'Neill signed Fox as a left back. Never mind that he plays him elsewhere, the board, with little money to spend, won't stomach signing another left back, when they additionally probably believe we already have one of the best young left backs in the country. So I would look for a young right back, not so set in his ways that he wouldn't be able to shift to left back when needed.

In I would go for a right back, winger that can play both sides and a striker if we can shift Vokes or Gregory.
Outs - Anyone not wanting to be here, Ince if we can get a replacement, and as stated above Vokes or Gregory if we can get a replacement!

Lots of chatter on socials about a young striker from Auxerre - Lassine Sinayoko
appears to be from just one source at the moment, anyone know anything?

I'd say we need to find a young Steven Fletcher type striker. A new left back as fox is ok but we need someone challenging him for the shirt.

I reckon Collins is playing so well at RB that he may be our answer to that position. Even without him we have ample decent players in central defence given where we are right now. If Ryan can make his comeback stick, then him, Bath, and Soutar are good enough. We do need another proper LB either as backup to Fox or to take his place. When all are fit we have enough midfield players to create a solid and creative midfield. So my choice would be a top class centre forward to compete with Fletcher for that place.
OS.

Wonder if there'd be any chance of getting Delap's son on loan in January?

Wonder if there'd be any chance of getting Delap's son on loan in January? He needs something because despite the fanfare on here he's only playing u23 football and he's clearly better than that. Depends if they want to work with eachother I guess. I wouldn't particularly because it just seems like an added pressure/issue that far too many can pick up on. But he'd be ideal if we're not trusting Campbell to play through the middle. Which imo is daft.

I cannot see us buying anyone in January.
Wimmer and Bauer won’t go anywhere. We’ve been trying to get rid of them for the last six windows or more and even the clubs we loan them to can’t wait to send them back. These two alone screw up our FFP status when it comes to buying players. So we have to sell before we buy. At the same time, how much cash do other clubs have to buy any players at the moment. We are known for paying high wages - other clubs can’t afford to match the pay or they refuse to upset their other players by over-paying a new recruit. And which of our players are both surplus and would attract bids? Ince maybe - but he’s on high wages. Vokes maybe, but I get the feeling the manager likes to have a ‘lump it to the big man’ option. I don’t think he’ll go.
I’d love to see some upgrades in various places, but I don’t think it’s going to happen in January.

He can't be getting much from u23 football I think a couple of good Prem loans could well be the best option for us - but lots of others will have the same view!

The problem with Prem clubs loaning out kiddies is they want guaranteed game time, but he'd have to be something special to be a guaranteed first choice in our team, given the depth of our squad and the young kids of our own who are coming through. For me, two buys who could get into/challenge for the first team - a right back and a centre forward (even better if he can also play from wide). If so, I'd consider offers for Vokes, Gregory and Ince, send Joe back to Donny and farm TOB and Verlinden out on loan, and pray for someone to take the Austrian duo off our hands.

Yeah - he (or another of his type) would be competing with (a hopefully fit) Fletcher, which would be a bit of a problem in selling the idea. But, of course, our problem is if Fletcher is unavailable, we go from from a high-end Championship target man to a battered second-hand Fiesta in a crucial role. I wonder if Delap could play in a wider area. Can't see any reason why not potentially?
