Great news for us, Vokes & Wycombe.
Ainsworth will play him how he supposed to be played with wingers either side pumping in crosses. Won't be surprised if he bags plenty for them next season. He never fitted how we play, it doesn't mean he's a bad player

Good news all round - and surely must mean we’ve got another striker lined up?

Bit concerned how much we’ve paid them to take him of our hands. Whatever it is it’s a good deal. He may well score 10 goals for them next season but he was never ever doing it here. All said, good luck Sam👍🏻

Good riddance to bad rubbish. He might do well elsewhere, let’s face it lots of other players were doing well before coming here!

Signing must be incoming pretty shortly now And here’s the huge concern I have for the new season- the FFP has caused the mass exodus and the limited number of signings so far leave grave concerns for the new season. 15 outgoings - albeit a lot of deadwood got rid of but the lack of incomings is very worrying.

I think there will be a flurry of activity across the board as players have to make their mind up if they're willing to take a covid pay cut or sit twiddling their thumbs. The chances are players are holding out for better financial offers if the 'pandemic' has affected what clubs are willing to pay as reported

Although he was poor for us, unlike others who threw their dummy out of the pram, he never stopped trying. So, for that reason I wish him well for the future.
OS.

Scholes is the transfer king.

What price him being top scorer this coming season? He’ll do well there because Ainsworth will play the game that suits him(like at Burnley),long throws, crosses and probably in a two

Surely the outgoings HAVE to be effected before we can risk signing contracts with most of the incomers? If we had signed any more incomers than we have and the expected outgoings didn't happen we would be so deep in the FFP doo doo that we'd be punished by the loss of a shed load of points. Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan show what happens to clubs who didn't cope with FFP properly. I suspect that Vokes leaving will open the door for another signing or two and either Ince or Gregory leaving would open the door for a couple more.

Exactly this...we need to see where we're at with regards to players leaving n where that leaves us and that determines our budget, can't be signing players in the hope the ones we want gone do eventually go. Hopefully we'll see a few arrive through the doors now.

I think by all accounts it just didnt work out for him here, so I wish him well, as he seemed like a decent enough guy and was well liked by the other players it seems. But that goal against Wednesday probably saved us to be honest.

First: Vokes is not fat! Is Shaw at United fat too? They are solid built lads, but not fat at all! Is Vokes good in the air? Yes, he is very good in the air. If a team can get enough crosses into the box he will score a lot of goals. If Vokes is going to succeed he needs a lot of crosses into the box and he needs to play alongside a quick and mobile partner. I think Vokes can be a success at Wycome if he ends up there, but to buy him to play in a system with one striker on top is just ridiculous. I also think he has lost a lot of self confidence here, and maybe this was the reason for some of the big misses towards the end of last season, but still he got on the end of decent crosses. Not a bad player if you play to his strengths, but he is not very mobile and certainly not fast. You aren’t far off there. Any person who has a career of over 400 professional football appearances and 60 odd caps for his country isn’t a shit footballer Blame the manager that signed Vokes and then didn’t play to his strengths. Vokes was a good player. Unfortunately when he arrived at Stoke it only took a short time to realise that his body was beginning to struggle to cope with the demands of the game and in the last 18 months that deterioration continued. It is alright saying that if there were lots of crosses hit towards him he would have scored a lot more goals, but I don't see how crosses correlate with him being able to jump again. In the last 18 months, when crosses did come over, his first movement was to push his defender in the back (usually with both hands and not very subtly) in the hope that the referee didn't see it and try and head the ball while still standing on the ground. He probably looked more likely to score when the balls were played into the area at foot height. Unlike some of the others, I don't think he has ever played like he didn't want to be here or put the work in in training (as seen by the message on the official site) but we all get to the stage where we know what we want to do but physically we no longer can. Some realise quicker than others, or maybe some try to convince themselves otherwise for longer. It may very well be that playing at a lower level his "football brain" will allow him to extend his career. Assuming that Ainsworth stays at the club and they continue with the same style of play, he should be a good signing for them as a slightly more mobile replacement for Akinfenwa.

It's division 3 in old money if a striker of his pedigree can't score goals in that league then that would be a monumental fall from grace!

Best of luck to our ex-striker who pulled on the Stoke City shirt in the belief he would be successful and the team would progress. May you have a long happy future and thanks for joining our ranks.

From seeing his rare Wolves and Burnley outings he was never going to be of use without quality crosses and players around him.
He started with Afobe up front and sadly his partner never read were a knock down would go or get an understanding. Then onwards he went backwards even further but he was good at defending at corners. A Keith Scott equivalent whom ironically also had a spell at Wycombe but prior to Stoke.
Hope he finds some enthusiam for football and not just smile.
