Should Tamworth be in Staffordshire?
As we have lost West Bromwich, Walsall and Wolverhampton, Should Wimborne and Kinver still be in Staffordshire?
I'm probably just seeing things as a " North Staffordshire person"

Everything south of Stone can do one. I think that you are right, there seems to me to be a divide at about Stone......or Blyth Bridge.

Staffordshire is a county of multiple dialects, accents and identities, more so than any county I know of. Tamworth was also the royal seat of Mercia and er....that’s it 😆

I'm probably just seeing things as a " North Staffordshire person" I’ve got quite a big branch on my family tree from the 1700s that hails from Kinver so, as far as I’m concerned, they are family and are welcome! I’m not so sure about Tamworth though.

I used to work for Derbyshire County Council. Those in Burton on Trent identified fiercely with Derbyshire. New Mills/ Glossop, , Chesterfield, Buxton and Burton seemed to have little in common. Rutland had its issues with Leicester. Then there's Yorkshire.

It is certainly a strange County, and if you had to name an area in it as being typical Staffordshire it is unlikely to be possible. I have lived and worked in most parts of it and I don't feel especially attached to any particular area. I was born in North Staffordshire and have all the right ancestry of pot banks and pits and I will talk about the heritage of the Potteries to anyone. I also went to school near Wolverhampton and have a bit of a soft spot for the characters and history of the Black Country. But apart from that it is not an easy County to love and there are good areas and bad. For example I am a countryside enthusiast and we are spoiled in the County by having the Moorlands and Peaks, the mysterious Cannock Chase and a fabulous Canal network. But take the magnificence of Shugborough and Cannock Chase as an example and you will find yourself right next the the South Staffs Coalfield and the horrors of Cannock, Chase Terrace and Brownhills. If any one else wants them they're welcome to them.
Tamworth can certainly go. Interestingly, the hometown of Sir Robert Peel, founder of the London Metropolitan Police Force, I did a shop opening project once in Tamworth and we had our Car stolen there, (it was found in Nottingham).
On another point, there is a Cathedral City in the South of the County, Lichfield, which is there but hardly ever mentioned. Who knew! It must be the most obscure overlooked Cathedral City in the country. Mind you until I was writing this I'd forgotten that Burton on Trent is in Staffordshire too, unless they've moved it. A very peculiar and diverse County indeed.

Well you can all knob off! I was born in Streetly which was in Staffordshire then but is now in the West Mids. When I was nine I moved to Codsall which is in South Staffordshire and for the last thirty years have lived in Lower Gornal just outside Dudley but I make sure all my post is still addressed as South Staffordshire as I don't recognise metropolitan counties. Historically Dudley has been in Staffordshire and Worcestershire but was Staffs when the Doomsday book was written which is good enough for me. As it happens, my Dad was born in Burslem and my Mum in Knutton. My Dad's dad owned the Butchers Arms at Audley and my Mum's Dad was a Saggar Makers Bottom Knocker and so I have supported Stoke since the day I was born. I'm not having anyone on here decide that I'm not a Staffordshire lad thank you very much. If you try and widen the Trent to stop me visiting, I shall purchase a dingy.
