If anyone is looking for a bit of Saturday Night comedy, I would suggest watching the penalty shootout between Orlando & New York City. It is one of the most chaotic and hilarious 10 minutes I think I have ever seen on a football pitch. NYC missed the 1st penalty but the rest were all scored until NYC had their 5th saved and the game was over. The Orlando manager ran off down the tunnel, his players celebrated and were following him when the ref called them back because VAR showed the keeper was probably an inch off his line when the kick was taken. (The Americans don't use goal-line technology, so it is a bit of a guess using the normal camera angles). The ref then gave the keeper a 2nd yellow for encroachment and sent him off. Orlando then took off an outfield player and brought on their sub keeper. Just as the penalty was about to be retaken, someone said something in the ref's earpiece and he ended up coming over to the touchline where a number of arguments seemed to take place before someone gave the ref an iPhone and he was seen scrolling down the screen, presumably looking up the rules! Eventually he decided that the substitution shouldn't be allowed and an outfield player had to go in goal. The retaken penalty was scored and then Nani missed for Orlando sending the shootout to sudden death. At 5-5 the outfield player saved the NYC penalty (his heel was probably about 3 inches in front of the line but I think the VAR official had given up and gone home) and everyone ran off the pitch celebrating and someone had to tell the ref that it was still only 5-5 and they had to fetch the players back to finish the shootout, which Orlando won with the next kick. And I thought we had useless and incompetent officials.
