We've been in the midst of a goalkeeping crisis for the best part of 4 years.
Get one of the youngsters in for the rest of the season.

I think it's time for Bayern to put his money where his mouth is and answer the call. Already offered my services on Twatter owd. Don't worry. We'll be gentle with you.

>>ANGUS GUNN has given Stoke City a keeper crisis - with an ankle ligament injury. >>On-loan Gunn faces a six week lay-off to leave the Potters looking to an emergency replacement. 6 weeks seems a remarkably short time to recover from an ankle ligament injury. The trouble with ligaments is they don't have a blood supply so they heal very slowly and sometimes never completely.

So we have no better option than to go with Bursik at this time. I don't know why but I'm feeling a lot more confident about Jo being in goal at this time than I have been about Angus. I have no idea why and perhaps this is misplaced optimism, but it seems to be just an instinctive feeling, like it is fate, and it was all just meant to be! Here's hoping.

Newcastle United Alan Gowling the scorer......Lost 2-1 at home. OMG it's both amazing & sad the stuff we remember! Thanks for the extra memories. Watched from The Paddock! We didn't lose, it was a last-minute equaliser. I was there

It's a good opportunity for Bursik but a shame because I have been very impressed with Gunn. I think he is excellent.

Quite excited by the prospect of seeing him, and the fact that the matchday squad could be 50% of under 22's.
I hope people have the necessary patience required with a team with a load of youngsters, they will show some inconsistencies I'm sure.......

It's a good opportunity for Bursik but a shame because I have been very impressed with Gunn. I think he is excellent. I thought he looked really jittery first couple of appearances and his communication with the defence was awful but he's been excellent since. Bloody typical to lose 2 keepers when things were on the up.

That's not what happens. Souttar, who's not u21 by the way, and Collins are both players with organisational skills throughout their careers, and they're always shouting. Collins did that in the presence of Shawcross when he (Collins) was still only 17. But it's still Ryan when he comes back and Batth who call the shots. Shawcross, sure. Batth is experienced but I don’t see him as a leader There's different kinds of leaders. Batth is the quiet type, who offers moral support. Shawcross offers bollocking. Not sure what Allen offers. apart from cupped ears.

Gunn's just a mercenary trading on his father's reputation. Bursik cares about the club, and while we shouldn't expect fireworks straight away, could be our goalie for the next 10 years. Or more.

The trouble with ligaments is they don't have a blood supply so they heal very slowly and sometimes never completely. If its a strain then 6 weeks is usually about right. Though if they rush him back it could make things worse and he will be out for longer.

One slight concern is that Bursik is cup tied in the League Cup having played in that competition for Doncaster according to Wiki. Hopefully Davies is both fit and match fit by the time we play Spurs. It could be Robbie Hemfrey's big day - or Blondy's.

It's not ideal but at least we have an academy now to dip into - the lad could grab his opportunity with both hands whereby we've essentially got a free keeper who could move on for a decent transfer fee. If youngsters keep getting chances then we'll attract more and more decent quality ones.
If he's not quite ready then we can loan an old pro or someone in the Prem with itchy feet anyway to tie us over.

Why are we trying to sign another keeper? I’m sure Bursik will do fine. You don’t get u21 caps for England if you’re crap Pickford did Fair one 😂

In the 1965-66 season Stoke had two international GKs on the books Leslie and O'Neil, but an 18 year old John Farmer , who I went to Wolstanton Grammar School with, got into the side and stayed there till Banksy arrived. I still remember the day , although I wasn't there. I was playing rugby for the school, when John played his first first team game. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Farmer_(footballer)

Read an article on the Sentinel site yesterday that mentioned if we were to explore the emergency loan route we can't loan from a Premier League team. Which could affect decision making going forwards!

Obviously we have to comply, but I can't really see any advantage in having that rule.

I think Bursik cares for Stoke because that's where his mates are playing, Tymon, Ty, Thibo and Souttar, all of whom were also not born anywhere near Hanley...

Stoke aren't paying him twice as much though are they, we are not paying all his wages, it's a loan. it's a loan & not a permanent deal because 1: we wouldn't pay all his wages in the Championship. 2: we have Bursik coming through who if his loan goes well should be ready for our bench next season is Bursik ready right now for Stoke? going by the mixed comments form Doncaster would suggest no not really, however by end of a season long loan he should have improved however now he's got to improve in our goal, it's not ideal but good luck to him.. Not being good enough for Man City still doesn't justify your pointlessly nasty comment that he was trading off his dads name - sure that get's him an 'in' when he's 13 but he excelled for Norwich on his own merit.
