When did Shawcross sign his contract? Be surprised if he's on 50k p/w if signed after relegation I think we made sure Shawcross, Allen, Buttland and Bauer would stay by giving them good contracts after going down! It seemed like we were certain we would go straight up again and then these contracts came back to bite us as we didn't! Still we have players like Wimmer and Bauer earning £30K+ without any contribution and players like Vokes and Ince the same with very little contribution. I can see why we need to lend players out for nothing as things stand! ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/cGxK1LQ3mbwGz59PPCrG.gif) I think Butland turned it down saying it wasn't deserved or something like that, but whoever thought we looked like certainties to go up were missguided to say the least.

Be surprised if he's on 50k p/w if signed after relegation My understanding is that Ryan's contract states that he always matches the highest earner in the club, hence why he's still on big money and all other players bar Allen and Bauer suffered significant wage drops....

If that is correct for Joe Allen I think I'll go have a cry for a bit. I think that's the first thing we've agreed on.

These wages, are they per month or per year?
Couldn't open the twitter pic for some reason.

If Allen is on that sort of ballpark figure it makes it even more galling we didn't try to sell him upon relegation.
There was absolutely no reason to keep him.

I kind of knew that ðŸ¤, ever since someone a few years ago wrote Crouch was on 40k a week. What bothers me the most is the difference between the players, when all are doing the same job. Shawcross ten times Collins? I'm not a communist but all should have the same, with the Manager just a little bit more.

Just to think, there was a time not too long ago, where we could have sold Joe for £25m and cleared near £60k a week in wages. Idem for Butland....
What a disaster it was to keep them.

What a disaster it was to keep them. not sure we had a £25m bid on the table for Allen however JC did say we turned a significant bid for him after relegation - I like Allen, however if we could have made a profit on him that summer in hindsight we should have sold him but that is with hindsight. as for Butland - not seen anything to suggest we had any big bids for him For me the decisions to extend Bauers contract - why?, to scrap win bonuses & to cut most players wages on relegation but not all players were 3 classic examples of how to engender a negative atmosphere in the dressing room. All 3 of those decisions lay at one mans door

It made sense to drop Allen and Butland as soon as any interest came in. I know it is in hindsight but if we went back to the threads around that time, a lot of people were thinking this before we had the benefit of hindsight. As far as allen goes, yeah I dont think there was ever a £25m bid tabled as such, I am going off the so called rumours of West Ham interest at the £25m mark. Whether thats true or not, Joe Allen never is or was a £25m player and if that amount was ever a possibility, it should have been taken immediately.

I think the Edwards contract length is correct in the sense that his deal with Fleetwood will expire in 2021 and they don't pay more than 1200 which is probably high by their standards. His other contract, with us, don't appear in the OP.
Whether the other figures are totally correct is hard to say, but there have been other learned estimates which looked proportionally quite similar.
The one figure which shocks me is Thibo on 3.000. I know he's an unproven gem and may never realise his potential if he continues to get seriously injured, but if we don't offer him seriously improved terms before long, there will be plenty of takers out there, when his contract is up, or even before that

If we hadn't tied him down to a lengthy contract in the spring of our relegated season, there would have been a lot of questions asking why not. At the time the going rate was about five years, mainly because we had only tied Nzonzi to three years, and we wanted to avoid a repeat. It was all a huge mistake. At least we did one thing right. We didn't offer him a six-figure wage.

Trick is of course for most of your signings to be successful.

The board will deny it if they can, but I think you're right or partially right. There's no way that a tiny Dutch club could pay what Bruno earns, to name just one instance. It's possible they pay 10-25% of his wages, and that might even be stretching their funds, so for their sake we have to hope Bruno's putting in an effort. We have to hope it too so that one of the big three will buy him. Though when you see how many players Ajax and PSV sell each transfer window just to survive, that's probably highly doubtful-

Otherwise would expect another loan until his contract expires. Shame because unlike others he's a good character and he suited the 343 He wanted out of England though.

Trick is of course for most of your signings to be successful. With the PL players we did the right thing - dropped their wages. In future I wouldn't let the Chief executive extend player's contracts if no manager is in place. I also wouldn't sign any championship players on mega money - ince, Afobe being examples of what can happen.

Trick is of course for most of your signings to be successful. Trick is to groom our youngsters and lowcut signings so they can perform at PL level - which few of them can right now. Obviously we would have to sign experienced players to play alongside them, but we should look for many SJWs and no Inces. And some Sidebes and no Etebos. No Gunns on loan on double pay when we have a potentially future England prospect on our books, but out on loan to a lesser team. Send him to Burnley or Sheff U next time or play him here.
