So the club don't own the ground? No mate and that’s what all the fuss was about last year with the EFL over the valuation of the ground

If Rooney keeps them up, he will get the Freedom of Derbyshires Grannies.

Rafa Benitez now 2/1 favourite according to Radio Derby🤔Surely not Hope so. He'd be massively out of his depth. Horses for courses and the position they are in both league position wise and finance wise (despite the billionaire owners they can't spend owt) even Pulis would have been a much more sensible short term option.

He’s won La Liga, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League and about ten other domestic cups in four different countries, but he’s going to be out of his depth in the Championship, a division which, incidentally, he’s also already won once? Daft post.

Even if they are, to say Benitez will be out of his depth in the Championship, is about as far from the truth as Donald Trump saying the Corona Virus is under control, way back in January.

Why else would someone who has loads of dosh buy them if they couldn’t bank roll them to the promised land.

He'll do what he always does, sort the defence out, bore the pants off everyone, do pretty well out of it.

Daft post. No you’ve totally misread or misunderstood my comment. I’m not saying Benitez isn’t a great manager and perhaps ‘out of his depth’ was the wrong phrase. I do actually realise he’s managed some fantastic clubs and got Newcastle promoted but those were all in different financial circumstances. When Newcastle came down they were able to keep all their Premier League players because they weren’t subject to FFP. Derby are in the shit financially (and may still get points deducted) and no amount of billions from their news owners is going to help because they simply won’t be able to spend. If you can show me where Benitez has taken a team on a shoestring and built it up to be a force to reckon with from nothing then I’ll accept what you’re saying. My point was even Benitez can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear. He’s always had some of the best players in the world to work with previously not the scufflers there are at Derby at the minute Rooney included (free kicks apart). Which was why I said a short term firefighter might be a better option to give them time and save them from the drop. He was appointed in 2016 to stop Newcastle being relegated and failed.

Yeah, a world class manager won't stand a chance of getting out of this league with massive financial backing will he? What was it with Newcastle? One season and champions? First of all he took Newcastle down in his first season taking them back up the following season because he was able to retain all his Premier League players as they were not subject to any financial restraint. Second he won’t have any of that ‘massive financial backing’ available because of FFP. Third I think Benitez has been a fabulous manager at the very top level so perhaps ‘out of his depth’ was the wrong phrase. Possibly ‘too far out of his comfort zone’ might have been better.

It’s definitely a totally different situation than Newcastle. There’s no guarantee with any appointment but I think with Derby there’s probably a lot behind the scenes that just isn’t right (a bit like us until recently). The bigger question will be around his ability to sort that out.

Isn’t FFP only an issue if they don’t get promoted?
