Disappointing tour for me all being said. To lose 3/3 formats should be a sharp reality check. However a poor dress rehearsal leads to a good performance so hopefully the white ball lessons have been learned for November. Test matches are a real concern. A strong showing at home is almost a given and we do at least have express pace in Archer to take to Oz but our spin options are giving me pre-Ashes nightmares already. Proof of the pudding will be the series over here, I think we are just a notch below them in tests but probably the equal of them in white ball stuff. Predicting a very tight test series and an England win in other formats Bit of a nothing series for me though, we're hardly going to learn anything from any format. There are 2 enormous prizes on offer at the end/turn of the year of which our home series will have little impact.

Obviously the ODI World Cup is a way off, T20’s I think we’re in with a chance as it stands but so are many others. The test side is by far the biggest worry, we still haven’t found any reliable openers since Cook

Burns has Ashes experience and I like him, I'm not sure why but he strikes me as a bit of a fighter. Crawley could develop into a gem and scores at a good tempo, does he open or go at 3? Sibley worries me in how one-dimensional he is. Cook only had two shots but they at least went either side of the wicket, Sibley seems to get stuck. 4,5,6 and 7 look after themselves. Number 8 would ideally be a spinner who can bat, of which we have none. Curran (S) what do we do with him down under? Then we're alternating Broad/Anderson so we look far from a settled team. The good news is aside from Smith and Labuschagne + their bowling attack they look as unsettled as we do.

The final point is a good one, they’re still in a bit of transition in all areas, batting and bowling. It’ll be the first ashes series for a while where both sides are still finding themselves a bit. Archer and Wood should fill their boots over there though, critical they’re both fit

In Australia you’d want more pace so at least 2 of Wood, Archer and Stone, but with Leach that massively exposes the tail......

The big hope for me would be at the age of 33 would Rashid be able to turn down the lure of an Ashes series down under following the T20 WC?
Yes we know about his shoulder and it would put extra overs onto Root but I reckon I could sell it to him. 😁
If Dom 'moon ball' Bess is lining up in that first test my blood pressure will be through the roof. 🌡

Brilliant game of cricket. Curran is a serious talent with both bat and ball. Matter of time till he gets a century.
Already buzzing for the 2023 World Cup.
Anyone considering it I'd highly recommend. There is no better place to watch cricket than the subcontinent and the food they serve up in the ground is some of the best value curry you'll ever have. Just make sure you're near a shitter and pack toilet roll in case you need to pop out an impromptu turd.

I believe the term is “a flock of sparrows”👀 I have been to India a few times on holiday in November time, so 2023 is a shoo in.

We already know NZ or Sri Lanka will be in the final as usual. Just a question of who the other will be 😉

Bit of a shit tour, really, after such a fantastic start.
I always thought we'd lose the Test series, but to lose both limited overs series is pretty disappointing.

I see Mike Atherton's son Josh scored a century for Leeds/Bradford University against Yorkshire yesterday. He seems to be a rising young talent and has a contract with Middlesex. Perhaps in a few years time Atherton will be opening for England again!

Apologies for lurching back to the T20 format, however with IPL under 10 days away I had a wonderful reminder pop up on my twitter timeline tonight.
I will bang this drum until the squad announcement for the world cup is finalised. 😉
Top order batsman who can bowl a bit of leg in a sub-continent WC is priceless.

I must admit it hadn't really occurred to me that the bails were not included when judging whether 50% or more of the ball would be hitting (though I suppose thinking about it, the graphic doesn't include the bails). I don't have any problem with that change, or the fielding side being able to ask the umpire whether they think a shot has been played before they ask for a review as playing a shot or not is a subjective decision. I am glad to see "Umpire's call" has been retained in its current format.

Anyone else witness Quinton De Kock’s blatant cheating yesterday? Always thought of him as a shifty character👀

Anyone else witness Quinton De Kock’s blatant cheating yesterday? Always thought of him as a shifty character👀 Thanks for raising - I hadn’t seen it. But thanks to the wonders of social media I can both inform and educate myself!! Looks to me like QDC broke a rule. I doubt he was aware of that though. More likely he thought he was being sharp.

Just seem this. Regardless of what the rule book says I don't see anything from with this. Lazy batting...
