RIP. Remember him on Reggie Perrin and always knocking around with Judy Dench. Cracking age though to be fair

RIP to a superb TV actor.
When I cook tea for us, it can often turn in to "a bit of a cock up on the catering front".

I wonder what he died of?... I hope there wasn’t a bit of a cock-up on the catering front.
Face, voice and laughter of so many of my childhood TV memories.
RIP.

And he had a few minor but distinctive roles in various historical dramas, usually playing Victorian ministers, throughout the nineties and noughties. Very distinctive face, lugubrious and intelligent. Like many have commented, another stalwart from our collective youth’s memories gone. We’re all getting old.... . RIP.

You've summed up my thoughts fairly well there Linx. Your comment that we're all getting old is very true, there have been plenty of celebs who've passed fairly recently, quite a few who were younger than me. Makes you think doesn't it.

My ...God! I had no idea he was 93. Of course my exposure over here (US) to him was somewhat limited (Mainly As Time Goes By) I liked him enough that I watched some of his other stuff (Fawlty Towers and the episode above Jimmy's Secret Army) I really really appreciated this guy's acting skills and subtle humor. That's tough to find. Well RIP sir, you were truly special.
