Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead ripping up one of Bob Dylan's best songs.

That Dave Matthews cover is awesome Goosebumps on goosebumps mate! How can the same song, interpreted in so many different ways, consistently produce the most incredible mind blowing performances? And as fine a version as the original is, there is something in the very fabric of the song that is uniquely special, indeed, when it's actual DNA is placed in the right hands, it time and again, leads to some sort of magical alchemy. Neil's guitar here is (as always) amazing but listen to the drumming of Steve Potts and listen to Booker T's organ, this isn't some normal shit going on, this is the song taking them all (they haven't got a choice) to another place entirely and they all know and realise that they haven't actually got a choice either and as such, they all gloriously embrace (with reverence) the opportunity that they've been given to perform this incredible song ...

I was going to add this when I saw it was absent in your original list of cover versions of this amazing track.

I want to pick a verse but every one is a killer, how about this one?
Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount But nothing really matters much, it's doom alone that counts And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm
And EmmyLou just gets better with age!

Captivating if somewhat faithful version, even the lyrical slip-up is endearing.Magical chemistry between the two:

This is the absolute worst version I've ever heard of any song. Having adored Dylan since way back when, I've got to say what a diabolical bluddy catastrophe this cacophony is, and I've never heard anything anywhere near so appalling. Talk about trash. The first 5 seconds of it were more than enough and a beautiful, poignant song has been massacred. It's a good job EP's already pinin' for the fjords, because if he wasn't I'd have to go right over there and sort him out.

Putting this in even though it's a bit of a cheat because it's not really Dylan's song, just an ancient blues song he popularised. This is definitely a cover of Dylan's version of the song though, if that makes sense... and it's one of my favourite ever covers so it's going in..

I could take or leave Miley's hits but she has the coolest tone to her voice, I love it when she sings low like this, her pitch and tone are perfect.

Unfortunately I have spent my whole life downstream of Bob Dylan.”

Bob Dylan covering Like a Rolling Stone in 2019. This is exactly how I remember him covering it in the early 80s.
