RIP
He was way before my time. It's funny to think he got sacked for just sniffing a bit of beak and shagging some high class escorts in Mayfair; it's basically 'the norm' now and in the current climate, probably the least shocking thing you could think of.
It's also interesting to note, that anyone from the potteries who does manage to catch the 'fame' spotlight, always ends up having a bit of an issue with the powder. No wonder New Order used to nickname the city 'Coke-On-Trent'.

Son of the City who did many a fine Grandstand for starters, many a fine Sports Personality Of The Year before it turned into the Sunday evening tripe it is now, and with the Caerwrangon serious hat on was the anchor on the Olympics coverage in Munich when what was going on in the athletes village took sad priority
Breakfast TV & Nationwide were just after thoughts.....Morecambe & Wise the cherry on the cake
Rest Frankie lad

Did a few naughty things,in the past, which today wouldve made him a MP or got himself into the House of Lords Loved him doing Grandstand RIP Just had a google. Frank Bough’s broadcasting career ended when it emerged he took cocaine with vice girls in a Mayfair brothel. Fair play 😂 RIP Frankie lad. I don’t think Tingles was open back the (so a friend told me) 😀

I always remember him hosting the very first BBC breakfast TV programme. It was peculiar, seeing presenters in woolly jumpers, or seeing Frank Bough, doyen of sports presenting and Nationwide (that’s not the building society, to all posters under 40) wearing one and grinning in a faux-relaxed manner. The early 80s were pretty revolutionary in TV, with breakfast TV and Channel 4 starting up. It all looks tame against today’s context but, hey, we didn’t even get computers at work until the late 90s!

Met him once after an Institute of Banker’s bash at the North Stafford Hotel. He was a marvellous self deprecating after dinner speaker he was also my uncle’s cousin and no I never let it go to my head.
R.I.P.

Tough choice to make, trust someone who was born in Fenton, and grew up with him, and went to school with him, or Wikipedia?
I appreciate that Wikipedia is not always the most reliable source of information. It does not mention when his parents moved out of the area and the only mention of schooling is that he went to Oswestry School. Another poster says he went to St. Gregory's! We may find out where he went to school if there is an Obituary in one of tomorrow's papers. Apologies if I am proved wrong.
Sorry about that, just checked with my dad, and I got it wrong. He lived in the same street (Tirley St. Fenton), but didn't go to Longton High

Got to be on the videprinter every Saturday, he had it all.
Never forgot where he came from. When I was a lad and used to play down the red rec he donated his jumpers for goalposts and a black leather mask with a zip which he converted into a makeshift ball by stuffing it with rags.
I'm pretty sure he invented the slang word "boffing" as well.
RIP fellow son of SOT. 👍

I have spoken to someone tonight who sat next to Frank at St Gregory’s. He wasn’t there for many years - he missed the infants and only did a couple of years in the juniors before he left the area. Consequently, he took his First Holy Communion after the rest of his class. They left Longton due to his Dad’s work.
His family lived in the small row of houses adjacent to Brookfield’s Toy Shop in Trentham Road.
