Wasn’t he charged with something many years ago ! I don't think he was charged with anything. I think he was just exposed by one of the tabloids for indulging in S&M type activities involving lots of leather. It came as a shock to the nation as he was presenting some national breakfast time or evening news programme in cuddly, woollen, patterned sweaters. He may even have got his own Spitting Image puppet as a result of his fetish. It was a long time ago so my memory is a bit faded.

R.I.P - a son of the five towns (the uncounted one) and peerless presenter. (Plus an early Chem-sex adopter).

Passed away aged 87 R.I.P. Just think if he’d left the ladies of the night and the odd nostril of marching powder alone he might of made 90

RIP Frank Bough. A Stoke on Trent born lad, but I think I have read somewhere that he was a Sunderland fan..... At least he was not a glory hunter of one of the big boys.

Was in the same year and rugby team as my dad at Longton High School, A son of Stoke. Frank Bough became known as one of the BBC's most accomplished presenters, equally able to cover sport, entertainment and politics. He was educated at Oswestry Boys' School and Merton College, Oxford. He undertook national service in the Royal Tank Regiment.

Tough choice to make, trust someone who was born in Fenton, and grew up with him, and went to school with him, or Wikipedia?

Former pupil of St Gregory’s in Longton. For a short while lived in Trentham Road.
I remember how delighted he was when we went to the top of the league under Waddo in the mid 70s. He could hardly contain himself when he showed the league table at the end of Grandstand.

I appreciate that Wikipedia is not always the most reliable source of information. It does not mention when his parents moved out of the area and the only mention of schooling is that he went to Oswestry School. Another poster says he went to St. Gregory's! We may find out where he went to school if there is an Obituary in one of tomorrow's papers. Apologies if I am proved wrong.
