I love the quote in one of the sub stories One nearby resident told StokeonTrentLive: “It looks really dangerous... There are a ton of men shouting"Just how many Longton men constitute a ton? Not many, the fat fuckers.

Wonder if it's the Pakistanis and Roma going at it again? The last time it kicked off up there the police didn't know who to arrest without being labelled as 'racist' so just let them get on with it. Apparently Lazio were there too. Paolo Di Canio was giving it the big a one.

All this is very sad. I remember Normacot was a very respectable community. My mother was born there in 1911. There was a cinema on Uttoxeter Road (the Allhambra I think). You could buy decent oatcakes from a corner shop. A few years I go, on a visit to Longton, out of curiosity I drove up Chaplin Road. It was unrecognisable and seemed to be part of an Asian ghetto. Queensberry Road (Squashers) was a perfectly good Secondary Modern. It must have been - Denis Smith went there! I wonder what he would make of it all now.

Remember Dereks chippy, Gez’s newsagents, Mr Brains grocery shop, Aynesley China, The Alhambra (derelict), Norman Rhead builders merchant. Went to Alexandra infants and primary. I’m talking 80s but it was a very community spirited place then where everyone would say hello. Such a shame seeing it now.

I remember it from the early 60's, when I had an Aunt & Uncle lived there. Longton still had some wartime bomb sites! At least I think they were bombsites, but possibly hard to tell. The first Asian family there that I can remember had a little "Open all Hours" type shop halfway down Rothsay Road, near the Tizer bottling factory on the corner. I honestly did learn to play football on the cobbled back alleys behind the terraced houses. It was a very basic residential area but people were certainly house proud and the women would come out most mornings and polish the front step with red wax, and acknowledge the Rag and Bone man on his passing cart. Cue the Monty Python sketch!

I expect that was when Normacot was still known as "the posh end of Longton"!

I expect that things have calmed down now, so is the place now under martial law, or alternatively awash with social workers compiling files on how the offenders had a deprived and troubled childhood?

ALL OF STOKE IS OUT OF CONTROL. DON'T EVER LEAVE YOUR HOUSE ELSE SOMEONE FOREIGN OR MORE CRIMINAL THAN YOU WILL KILL YOU AND BUM YOUR DOG. STAY HOME. STAY IN FEAR. NEVER TRY TO DO ANYTHING THAT MAY IMPROVE YOUR LIFE OR THAT OF YOUR CONTEMPORARIES. READ THE SENTINEL. EAT OATCAKES. GO THE SAME PUB EVERY NIGHT FOREVER. Why would visiting Normacot improve anyone's life ? it's a shit hole there's only one pub left that is technically in Dresden and that's shit now. Which pub,,??

Touch of irony that the next article in The Sentinel straight after the report is a feature on how to empty your bowels.

What. Red and Blue flashing ones? There was definitely red and blue and yellow as well. To be fair it was so bright it lit up the side street.

Have to admit i think the new one is an ugly building. Perhaps the recent civil disorder was down to people expressing their dislike and their negative feelings about this new architectural feature.

More likely down to cultural differences or drugs or both, Muslims and eastern Europeans living in close proximity maybe not such a good idea but hey ho multicultural harmony is the way forward
