We have finally got a manager who is prepared to give younger players an opportunity in the team, playing alongside seasoned players. This is a recipe for success if it it comes off, then further down the line the youngsters become the seasoned pros and the process continues etc etc. It also saves a shit load of money being wasted on non entities that recent managers have splurged on

Certainly Souttar seems to have totally benefitted from his loan last season and Collins seems a better player. MON certainly seems to have improved certain parts ofCampbell'sgameand now we are seeing the results

I certainly credit someone at Fleetwood with Souttar transformation. He looks a totally different player although I only saw glimpses of him before he went. I don't think it's just extra confidence through playing regularly either. He knows how to handle himself in physical battles now. I'd try to send any promising young defenders to Fleetwood on loan for free especially if Edwards comes back a better player.

He’s spent the last 18 months showing Big H the “dark arts” of defending apparently.

For me, one of the best things that MON has done since he became our manager is to give the young players a chance to show what they are capable of. I cannot recall any of our recent managers doing this. As a long term strategy this should be successful - but supporters will need to be patient.

Our young centre backs are head and shoulders above the experienced ones we have. Hopefully more future players will benefit from decent loans to improve our first team.
Be nice to see Sorenson and Bursik come back getting game time with us.

The season where he rescued us from imminent relegation and turned around the Titanic steaming at an iceberg that our team was? That season? I suppose he might have took the decision to trust in experience and nous rather than youth and inexperience. The results suggest he got that right.

Hopefully verlinden is the next to get his chance. Showed some really good touches before he got injured, with a bit of bulking up and becoming more streetwise he could be some player.

I like him but he needs to impress if he expects to get game time when he comes back.....

He's still the best prospect of the lot This is how we grow the team - by trying to introduce 2 or 3 youngsters into the team each year. Last year wasn’t the time but Campbell has already virtually cemented his place. This year it may be Souttar and Collins then next year who knows - Verlinden, Bursik, Sorenson, Edwards or someone completely out of the blue. It needs to be a minimum of 2 blooded into the first team per season because 1 of them is likely to be poached each year unless we get promoted.

As a matter of interest who (if anyone) is our defensive coach? If we don't have one, we could do worse than approach Clint Hill at the end of the season.

We should be targeting a young version of Fletcher moving forward, we have nothing in the U23's of his type forward wise, in fact no forwards at all at the moment!!

I can't imagine many young strikers have similar qualities as Fletcher. Yeah the reason why fletcher is what he is is because of his age. There was an article in the week where he stated his short spell in the French league changed his game and that was when he was 30!

I can't see why he would give up an assistant manager post though with someone who he seems to have got a good bond going with.
