They're both back in training I believe although obviously a long way off fitness

No I don't think so.
Joe would need a full pre-season once he is playing full contact football with the group so I guess we won't see him in meaningful action this calendar year. I always reckon 12 months for an achilleas although you can do better with luck.
Ryan's current headline problem is a calf I think, which you wouldn't imagine was a big deal but you just worry that when he does come back something else will give up on him, he seems to be physically unravelling before our eyes.

Sounds like Shawcross is back in full training?
So Id hope he’d play in the u23 game on Monday.

He’s not but he’s still better than Chester and Batth by a mile when fit. I think we can all agree on that!!! I just hope he can get a run in the u23s tbh. It’s what he needs for now. Stay fit for 3 90 minutes in a row. Because he’s so much better for the younger ones to learn from than Batth or Chester. That was one of Chester’s better games today and he was still at fault for a goal for something an experienced defender should never be doing. It makes you wonder how he’s got by.

I have sort of given up believing Shawcross will ever play even semi-regularly for us again.
