I don't hate Rowett tbh, if he hadn't decided to go to war with a fan favourite in the form of Bojan he'd probably still be our manager imo.
Gotta say Bojan became a divisive figure for us, one of the reason MON has enjoyed such unity is he's never had to deal with that problem.

That is what good managers do, they deal with it, Pulis did it and some times it worked sometimes it didn't. That's football life.

That’s probably more of the reason that MON is well liked.

Give me Rowett over Hughes, Jones and Lambert any day Really? 3 9th prem finishes. Smashing Liverpool 6-1, Beating Chelsea 3-2. 3-0 at half against arsenal and winning 3-2. Beating Man City away. And yet you would swap it all for Rowett in charge. 50/60 odd million spent and couldn’t even treat us to 3 goals in one game (in a lower division)

Give me Rowett over Hughes, Jones and Lambert any day You have to despair at Stoke Fans sometimes unbelievable Despair all you like. Any manager who sanctioned: £18m Imbula £18m Wimmer £12m + 4 transfer windows on Berahino £14m Ndiaye* £5m Wollschied + Huth out on a free *would have been involved in the process before his sacking Is a worse manager than Gary Rowett

James McClean - £6 million Ashley Williams and Martina - both shite A fair amount of money to spunk and couldn’t be bothered to achieve 3 goals in a game (or win many games). Shite manager and far worse than Hughes

My main issue with Rowett is that he decided to use Stoke as a chance to try and rebrand himself as a more progressive kind of manager. However, he picked a style of football to do so which fell out of favour several years prior as it didn't stand up to an organised press.
Had we gotten Rowett with the style he's fallen back on at Millwall, he probably would've been fine.

Hughes had one massive gig at Man City, and a big gig at us. He was dreadful at QPR, failed at Wales, average at Fulham Decent at Blackburn, good at us before he woefully lost the plot. Where has Rowett massively failed in the same way as Hughes has? He’s doing a damn good job at Millwall, due to his lower player profile he was always going to need to take a team up, rather than be handed a top flight job. He’s younger than Pulis was when he took us up, and Pulis has had a damn site better managerial career than Hughes

You could say TP runs him close but he never got near the table placings Hughes got. Be objective. As for Rowett.. well yeah...

Managers don’t make signings. They provide a wish list (with a number of players for a position he needs cover for) which is approved by scouts and chief execs etc. They then work down the list and recruit according to the advice and stats of the players and agree the deal.
After that the managers get on with their jobs and wait to see who comes in the door.
If anyone though Hughes was pushing and pushing for stoke to spend £18m on Wimmer and all the blame for that lies at his door then you’re sadly mistaken. Would be have recommended the signing? Yes, sure - along with a big team of people on the staff. The days of managers driving up the motorway to meet players themselves and signing them at service stations is long gone.

The scenario for the Wimmer signing could have been...........Teflon Tone and Cartwright sat in the office close to transfer deadline they decide to put in a last minute cheeky bid of £1.8m for Wimmer. Pizza in hand Tone sends the fax but accidentally misses out the full stop. At the other end Levy is told by his transfer team of this unbelievable offer for their sometimes back up centre back who cost £4m two years ago. The rest is history.

Plus, you know, finishing 9th three years on the trot. Rowett signed a load of absolute dross and two average-to-good Championship players in Clucas and McClean for high fees. Then dished up six months of mind-numbingly shit football. Hope he recovers and all that, but based on their records as Stoke manager, Rowett isn't fit to lick the piss stains out of Mark Hughes's pants.
