If you read the figures for reported abuse in the Church of England it's quite scary. Public opinion will have you believe that this kind of thing is confined to the Catholic church which is far from the truth, cases have more than doubled in the C of E with more than 4000 clergy under report. I knew the brother of a singer from the 70s and he worked as a road manager for several artists and said the Savile thing was tip of the iceberg in the music world, certain musicians put him to shame, one in particular. Obviously you have no idea how much is true but you do wonder how much is/was swept under the carpet, not reported etc.

For me on the Muslim Paedophile topic there was an uncomfortable focus on the 'Muslim' bit rather than the kid fucking bit. It never really made any sense to me why they would be being protected for race reasons as invariably the fall out when the public cottoned on would be much worse than what they were protecting against in the first place so was completely nonsensical. That then opens up an uncomfortable question - are paedophiles being protected? Now that seems a completely batshit mental thing to consider but Epstein had enough sh!t on him that he managed to commit suicide in a prison that was allegedly impossible to commit suicide in except neither the guards nor cameras were working at the time. You have the Church here, the BBC, Royal family circling the wagons, football training where it was rife and took years to uncover - Crewe seemed an open secret almost! Lord Steele basically said 'ooops sorry' for covering up historical abuse within the party and retired without much issue or fanfare. The Carl Beech case on the other hand was played out in great depth with his sentence read day after day on the news as almost a warning to others. How did the Police manage to fuck it up so badly to the point they looked absolutely incompetent? If they were going after big wigs you'd have thought they would have known to have all their ducks in a row. You'd have thought they would have learnt too after managing to fuck up the Jersey case as well again allegedly involving high profile figures. Interestingly the dog involved in that had a 100% record until the case before (McCann's) and then suddenly started barking at coconut shells or some other bollocks. You've also got best estimates that 1600 kids go long term missing a year from care - that's a mad figure! Something I wasn't aware of until fairly recently was the case of McRae.
