It would be interesting to see what happens if a couple of sides dominate it and they don't have domestic football to fall back on. Are glory hunting bastards going be happy watching their chosen side finish mid-table regardless of how shiny the league is or would the just fuck off and watch whoever was winning the domestic league? It's pretty crass too that the top level of football thinks now is the time to get even fucking greedier than they already are. The problem is they are going to want their cake and eat. They run two teams at the same time effectively. Instead of loaning players out Chelsea for example could have another team who could possibly win the Championship

It is purely down to the greed of the owners ££££. The fans of Liverpool and Man Utd would not back this idea at all. I think you are right. Last week the supporters organisations at Liverpool and Man U were very quick out of the blocks to condemn Project Big Picture, along with the supporters groups of the other 4 of the "big 6". Assuming, as I expect them to be, they are against this, we will support them. For that reason I don't go along with the view that it would be better if those clubs went and left English football. Solidarity cuts both ways. If anyone who has Sky is interested, I've just done a pre-record for their 10pm and possibly their 7pm bulletin. Here is the FSA statement on it. thefsa.org.uk/news/fsa-statement-european-super-league/

They want a global tv sport so it's the global audience who will matter. The American owners want the mega billions that go along with it. Literally couldn't give a shit about anything else.

As Sky has changed owners and BT has a new CEO since this is even more likely. Growth will be from foreign revenue as was clear from the proposals in Project Big Picture - Greater freedom to sell abroad and reduction of competitive pressure in the PL. What people who say fuck them off don’t realise is without Liverpool and Manchester United the sponsorships of the football pyramid will virtually dry up meaning a huge knock on effect for everybody else And they know it There might need to be some pain to get some gain here. The most disappointing thing about it though is that it is FIFA backed according to the article. FIFA is meant to stand for the good of the game as a whole not to prostitute itself for the benefit of the super rich. It’s unacceptable to have the big clubs holding the rest of world football to ransom and to be used for their casual benefit. All FAs and especially the world FA need to be protecting the many not pampering the few. The root cause of the chasm between the super size clubs and everyone else and the reason this is even possible though is because of the millions of pathetic feckless parasite cunts who only support a team because of glamour or glory. It’s about time these enemies of the game started feeling a lot more heat than they do from the rest of us and have their superior condescending arses handed back to them every time they talk about the game that they are destroying. Maybe then they wouldn’t think it so cool to be a glory hunting piece of shit! BM Well it’s time to fuck fifa off into the bright blue yonder and bring in better more honest governance in football

In times of global crisis the one constant you can rely on is that there will always be rich power hungry vultures greedily salivating over the carcass.

Not sure exactly what that means but I don't think the Gvt will try to do it themselves. The TV revenues will follow the big clubs for the worldwide audience. If it went ahead a PL deal would be less and any cascade down the pyramid would be less. Any team without their snout in the trough couldn't ever hope to compete. The only answer to this if they want to break away is for the FA and EFL to have very simple rules. You can't compete in two leagues. You can't compete in the FA cup if you don't compete in an English league. You can't compete in the league cup if you don't compete in an English league The English FA should insist to UEFA THEY choose which teams to put forward for any proper European competition based on English cups and English league positions.

Am surprised some teams haven't broken away permanently and no problem with them doing so although not the intention here it seems. Was talk of it years ago and think Everton were backing it which seemed a bit odd as not one you would immediately include I think say an 18 team European League would work and whilst would hit domestic leagues financially would mean a more level playing field . It is the lack of relegation (for the first 20? years) for the top teams that pisses me off. I've always thought this was the big advantage the rest of the world have over the American way of doing things - now it seems that the Americans have sold their system to the mega rich football clubs of Europe! Not surprising that many of them in England have American owners. How the hell is a league where 11 of the teams are guaranteed to remain in it in any way entitled to call itself a "competition"? It's no longer sport - it's just a game of subbuteo for the mega rich.

Let them go.
Refuse to let their b teams play on the premier league.
Have a more open premier league in this country without the top 5 or 6. British football fans will be happy to see more clubs having genuine chance of winning the new look premier league.
Maybe even motd would become less biased
Let them chase the ££ and ge English football back into some sort of financial reality making it a more open competition.

Arsene wenger hit the nail on the head when he says it's the other European clubs that are concerned that they can't keep up with the power of the Premier league, so they want a European super league so they have a better split of the big bucks. Fuck off Europe, both in football and. In brexit. fucking hate them.

Personally would prefer this than the European giants fielding B sides in the domestic game. I think the European league would fuck up all the domestic leagues and be a less interesting competition than The Champions League is.

Maybe then they wouldn’t think it so cool to be a glory hunting piece of shit! BM I would only echo your sentiment, but how is that going to be achieved? My own feeling is that the game has been hijacked, the sort of people who were the main support base for football clubs (working class industrial urban fans) are now the minority. The clubs used to depend on these for revenue. Now they don't. The support bases are predominantly global and people with high amounts of disposable income. This a game changer. OK its never going to return to former, that's a bygone age, but where does it go from here realistically? Tony Waddington referred to football as the working man's ballet. Now it's turned into a middle-class moonstomp. If they go, they should never be allowed back.

Would Sky still want to pay top dollar for a PL consisting of 15 'proper' teams plus 5 sets of reserves? The top teams already have access to most of the money, as long as they perform well enough to qualify, all they seem to want to do is remove any form of competition...it's a horrible prospect

Instead of loaning players out Chelsea for example could have another team who could possibly win the Championship They'll defo try to do that but a problem they would face I reckon is finishing top 4 no longer means anything. Some of the glory hunters may be appeased if they win the domestic league but finish 4th in the new spangle super duper league. Are glory hunters going stick around paying PPV if their side is mid-table to bottom of the new league and finishing 3rd or 4th at home? Quite a few of the overseas contingent would likely invest in a new shirt for the next season and shout at the tele in a different supporter bar. Without relegation for some of them too if they're down there for a few seasons they could just fester like an infected turd. If they go down the US system will glory hunters hang around until it is their year on the cycle or are they more interested in a sure thing year on year? The other thing that gets me is it takes for granted a massive demographic in the 'product' they're flogging - the masses of folk who support other clubs. If they don't buy in to it and subscribe PPV is going to have a lot of leg work do.

Apparently UEFA are totally against it
maybe it’s time for them and conmebol To come to a agreement and start a alternative World Cup involving countries that carry all the previous winners
There’s nothing like a loss of power and brown envelopes to alter FIFA’s thinking

I’m all for it. Just boot the pair of them out so they can play each other every week in their closed shop circus. Job done. Let’s see how the pair of them get on then when they're scrabbling around for friendlies and exhibition matches to fill their calendar. Within the process of booting them out they should be de authorised by all FAs with no way back for players, officials, owners and clubs. A hard stance is needed and the power needs to be taken away from the selfish and the greedy. This is a sport and sport needs genuine and interesting competition to thrive, not monopolies! BM
