Anyone else thinking he's already one of our best players? When he signed I had a real sense of misery but he's a brilliant footballer. Shouldn't be too surprised considering every-time we played Sunderland back in the day he looked like Prime Ibrahimovic. Funny how transfers work out isn't it, looks ten times the player Vokes ever has.

Yes.
Yeah I was pretty fucked off when he signed but the more that was posted and the more evidence that was being shown it was like ok, he’s still useful then. And he’s more than shown it.
One downer from today (I had to) really did expect him to score the chance where he ran in from the right. It was absolutely perfect for him on his left.

If only he was 5 years younger. But he’s looking fit and sharp. If he gets us promoted I’ll be happy

He's a good experienced pro at this level and some of the younger ones can learn a lot from him. I hope today's goal will be a platform for him to bang in another 20. Gouranga.

He is everything in an ageing targetman that Vokes isnt.
I cant believe they have both played regularly in the Premier League. Fletcher is mobile, with a great first touch and clever awareness of space.
Vokes can head a ball in the box. THAT IS ALL

I like him he’s a very good all round striker. No real weaknesses. Good in the air, good touch and a decent finisher. A definate upgrade. Him and Campbell will be a great partnership the more they play.

I had mixed feelings when we signed him, not because I didn't think he was any good still, but because of what he did to us at Sunderland at the start of the 2014/15 season. We had had a decent start to the season and Sunderland were in a relegation position (as usual) without a point. I therefore cheerfully accepted an offer of a lift to the game from a Sunderland fan I knew. The game was going quite well and Adam equalised for us, but then it went pear shaped when Fletcher got a brace of goals and sunk us. I didn't enjoy the lift home, thanks to Fletcher.

He's a much better 'footballer' than I thought he was.
His link up play is very good and it brings Powell and Campbell into the game more than Vokes or Gregory.

Is he trying to not look bald, because he's doing a rather bad job of that.

He's great for this league, experienced will score some goals, hold up play is good and will help younger players like Campbell and Brown.

Is he trying to not look bald, because he's doing a rather bad job of that. I love his Primitive Alpha Male flowing locks that don't conceal his bald spot. There's something very 21st century with the over tattooed* footballer does 1970s comb over about the whole look. And he's a good footballer. This season will show it was a super shrewd signing. *the bloke has even got a tramp stamp on his lower back.

I didn't want him here because of his age, rarely noticed his career either. But he's clearly took the piss out of our transfer process regarding us blowing a stack of money on Vokes.

Having Fletcher Brown on the team sheet made me chuckle because of Nurse Fletcher Brown in Black Adder Goes Forth episode when Captain Black Adder exposes her as the spy Fleischer-Baum. Last pairing I can remember was Farmer Palmer from the Waddington era in the 60s. Are there any more people can think of? Other teams I recall Donachie Babb Berger trio for Liverpool.

There was hope among Celtic supporters during the short lived reign of John Barnes that he would sign David Weir to play in his back 3 alongside Raphael Scheidt and Olivier Tebily meaning the central defensive line up would have been Weir Tebily Scheidt. Anyway, switching sports, the finest example of this word association (I think) comes from the world of 70s test cricket between England and the Windies... the bowler is Holding, the batsmen’s Willey. Always makes me smile that one.

I have a feeling ( unsubstantiated ) that on of the reasons Fletcher and Mikel were bought in as they are model pro's, who would have a significant effect on improving the mentality of the dressing room.

I reckon it’s a good feeling, even if it is unsubstantiated. After all, 99% of the assessments on here about what happens inside the club are totally unsubstantiated.

It’s always best to give people a chance before writing them off as “fucking wank” etc
Still there’s always the “ pleased I'm proved wrong” fallback
