We looked a bit shaky for me defensively today - Collins has a lot to prove - it was his first ok performance for us - has to keep playing him though as we literally have very little other viable options in the centre of defence

Our midfield were overrun. So we’ve learnt Clucas is pants playing behind the front three alongside Mikel. Mikel can’t get about enough so Clucas has to play as a defensive midfielder, and getting about the pitch and winning tackles isn’t his strength. He’s much better when he has a midfielder sitting behind him and he can get in the box and score goals. Mikel isn’t as dominant as I’d hoped so we need two midfielders to do the dirty work and Clucas isn’t the man for it. Maybe play Thompson alongside Mikel instead?

Mikel is a worry for me. Not doing anywhere near enough defensively.

I thought we showed a lot of togetherness today, everyone applauding good play, or an attempted good ball. Good signs moving forward.

Mikel playing on respiration - a really good defensive midfielder would be an asset

After 5 games, TP also had 2 wins, 2 draws and a defeat in our last promotion season.
Durban had 4 wins and a draw.
Waddo had 3 draws and 2 defeats

The formation works when the players pull their finger out.
There’s some fans that don’t give credit where it’s due.

Key thing it doesn't matter especially what formation we play we have to play with good intesitity to win games. We can good or bad whichever way we line up. I’m not the grammar police lordb but that word has made me laugh just trying to say it out loud. Intesitity 👍

Refs have Powell's card marked as a diver. He needs to stay on his feet more before he starts getting the fouls.

I think we could be a bit of a Sheff Utd this season
I don't mean Sean Bean will star in a shocking film about us and Trigger's daughter will don an atrocious Irish accent, I think we could do really well without much fuss

Bye Bye James Chester. Really need him as back up only. Don't care if the two young lads have a fuck up now and again as there getting vital experience. Chester makes regular fuck ups anyway.

Campbell has the makings of a very tidy right winger

Campbell has the makings of a very tidy right winger Agreed - the diagonal cross for the goal (with his left foot) was excellent and his back heel in the build up to the second goal was also crucial. He sometimes makes the wrong choices though - but that should improve with experience. The only big mistake he made yesterday was very early into the match when he did a great dribble into the penalty area and opted to shoot at the keeper and 2 defenders guarding the near post when a cut back to an unmarked Powell a few yards away in the penalty area would have been a much better option with a goal almost certainly being the result. Powell let him know about it as well (as you can see on the highlights on the Official site) - which is the way it should be.

And then you have a situation later in the game where Brown dribbled his way into a goalscoring opportunity only to lose it by trying to find Clucas when a shot looks better. Hindsight surely on both accounts

Hindsight surely on both accounts It certainly isn't hindsight from me. I watched the game live and in the first incident I screamed for Campbell to pass - as the odds were far better for a shot by Powell, the chances of Campbell scoring at the near post always looked poor. In the second incident, either shooting or passing to Clucas were both reasonable options. Brown chose one which didn't work because his pass was poor - had he chosen the other option he might have scored or he might have missed. Hopefully as his skill level and composure improves, his chances of scoring or getting an assist improve.

We look more solid when Batth is in and Chester is out! Possibly- but with a back 3 I worry about the lack of a left footer. I think I would tend to play: Collins, Souttar Fox When Fox is fit. I'd also like to see Lindsay given one last chance as the left hand member of a back 3 sooner rather than later.

He should definitely go for goal in that position, only a defenders blocking leg stopped him scoring Campbell is a real threat

I'd also like to see Lindsay given one last chance as the left hand member of a back 3 sooner rather than later. I think Fox has done ever so well defensively, and Lindsay isn't that bad really. As things stand we probably shouldn't have brought Chester back again as I can't see that we need him. Guess it was some kind of precaution though. I'm fine with 3 at the back, but I like to see Batth in the middle. Collins is stronger in the air than Fox, but as you say we need that left foot there. It depends a little on who the opponent is I guess. 1. .....Souttar....Batth......Fox.......... 2. .....Souttar....Batth......Collins.... 3. .....Souttar....Batth......Lindsay
