Joules Hawaii Five-Joe Tropical IPA, The Glebe, Stoke. Might have a big pork pie with whole grain mustard too, being the opulent bastard that I am. I've always gone for Colmans mustard with a pork pie. Can't say as I'm a huge fan of whole grain. Some whole grain is disgusting, some is way better than English. My hazy recollection is the one used in the Glebe is of the latter category 😀

Not sampled the fish and chips but the burgers are immense (especially the Blue Cheese Burger).
It's all about the cheeseboard platters in that establishment though. Out of this world 👍

Out of this world 👍 I was going to ask about the cheese board, they look most inviting. I’ve usually had too much booze to appreciate it though. Tell me about the cheeseboard(in an Alan Partridge voice)

They do them in three denominations increasing in price.
If memory serves me correctly, the cheapest is about a tenner and you get three types of cheese (you choose your three from the fuckload they have available), pate, pork pie, wholegrain mustard, ramekin of pickled onions, big basket of crusty bread and crackers, and about 10 types of chutney.
It's marketed as being suitable for two people but it's fucking massive and me and the Mrs never finish it all. Good thing is however that they'll wrap up what's left for you and let you take it home.
Apologies for taking this thread off topic slightly but you could argue that the looming availability of strong cheeses and accoutrements in a nice pub is something to look forward to and therefore a positive influence on both my own mental health and possibly that of others (depending on how much they like cheese).

I'm on first name terms with most of the delivery drivers now thanks to Mar lady. Coffee first, then condiments, now cheese. All ordered online. We were discussing what a cheese conioussuer is called, I went for 'cheesist' but the term is actually turophile, somebody who fiddles with cheese.

I found out during the last lockdown where The Glebe sources its cheeses, pork pies and all the rest of it from and have been indulging on an almost weekly basis whilst said hostelry has been forced to remain closed. (it's the cheese stall in Stoke Market, immediate left if you enter from the door closest to Sainsburys on the carpark side, next to Jackson's Butchers)

Anyone else getting football fatigue?
If you'd have said to me aged 16 that you can spend every weekend drinking beer and watching four matches per day I'd have died and gone to heaven.
After doing this for what seems like 47 weeks in a row it's really getting quite tedious. Like being trapped in some sort of vaguely alcoholic football-themed groundhog day.
Ironically, the thing that would really break this monotonous cycle would be being able to get back to my thrice weekly 5-aside games. Really missing it as they give structure to my week.
If that fat fucking buffoon doesn't reinstate communal sporting activities on Monday I feel that I may turn into one of those boring stats-obsessed nu-fan YouTuber cunts and start making 25 minute long videos about zonal marking.

My Mrs thinks I’ve gone mad. Bit like when you get into a certain food and eat it that much you get sick of it. You know you still like it but just can’t face the thought of eating it again for a bit. Monday is going to be a big moment for mental health, it’s massively important we get some positive news.

Definitely with you there Clammers - many of the prem games between the top and bottom clubs are just like attack v defence anyway and as a result are pretty tedious. I prefer watching the Vanarama league on BT. A bit more blood and thunder with increased amounts of audible profanity. Think Hunger Games with a ball. Please upload a 25 minute Youtube on zonal marking.

I play 5 a side every Monday night and it’s proper pissing me off not being able to leather a thunderbolt straight into Wing Lee’s yard. I keep looking at the neighbours dog and contemplating volleying it if I can’t get back to it soon.

I keep looking at the neighbours dog and contemplating volleying it if I can’t get back to it soon. No idea where you live or what type of dog it is but see if you can volley it into Wing Lee's yard. I once accidentally kicked a pug into traffic whilst out jogging. True story.

Lighter mornings and lighter nights. Warmer weather. Dates for restrictions easing. Hopefully folk feeling a bit more positive for the future. Plenty of contacts on here if you aren’t though.
Hope everyone’s doing ok.

Watched the hour long Silent Emergency program done by Roman Kemp last night, it covers the topic of suicide amongst young men after his best mate took his own life last year.
It’s a superb piece and I highly recommend watching it, I’ll certainly be adapting some things from it to deal with not only my own struggles but the potential hidden ones of others.
It’s on BBC iPlayer for those interested.

The thing that i learnt the most from it was that you have to talk when you feel like you want to take your own life. Sometimes one short conversation can make all the difference. I thought Roman Kemp did a brilliant job and was incredibly brave telling his story. I also watched the Caroline Flack documentary which was also excellent and concentrated more on the effect that Social media and the gutter press had on her taking her own life. It really showed what a dangerous tool twitter and sites like this are and how hurtful comments can destroy someone if you don’t know how they’re feeling inside or what existing MH conditions they have. this is a link for the CF docu www.channel4.com/programmes/caroline-flack-her-life-and-deathBoth are difficult to watch but very worthwhile.

Spring equinox today too. Definitely turning a corner now. Keep the vaccinations going and the infection rates low for the next few months and we will be there. Freedom!

Ey up lads
Just a quick one to say I’ve actually started a job I really enjoy at Stafford council and I’m getting my own place again after living back with my parents for a while.
Just want to give credit to this thread as somewhere I could look when I was feeling low, my life is finally getting back on track after a tough period of time. Keep going and I’m so proud of you all

Bricking myself for the 29th this month!
Got my develpment review at work as it will be a year since I started my new job on 1st April. I was taken on as an creative assistant, which means helping out with getting resources onto our companies website and doing bits of social media along with it.
I've expressed interest to progress to bigger roles, I feel like I'm ready for the step up and I hope they do to.
Praying it goes well.
Then to top it off, I shall be having some fish and chips with my nan and granddad (precautions taken of course, but they're in the bubble). Bring it on.
