I like him. Takes the ball in tight spaces, excellent first touch and good awareness of all around him.
He'll get better and better.

Still not convinced this fella's ready for first team football yet. He's neat and tidy enough on the ball but doesn't seem to get involved enough. You never see him really looking to get on the ball or make a darting run to receive a pass- seems to drift through games like the invisible man at times. There's enough there to suggest he might come good in the future, but I think a loan somewhere further down the leagues could be the making of him. Pretty much how I saw it. Looks decent on the ball and keeps possession which is something we don’t do well when we need to. He often made out to play a one-two but almost always checked back and made himself available for a simple pass. Lack of confidence or following instructions.? Yea same thoughts. He looked a little low on confidence

I think the problem is that he’s come here with most people thinking he was an attacking midfielder.

I agree, and I'm actually starting to see the same in Thompson to be honest. These guys just need a run of games and the confidence that goes with it. That's why a cup run is ideal, it gives them a chance to shine they wouldn't otherwise get.....

What's wrong with passing it back and keeping the ball? If it's necessary, but it's very negative, boring and pisses people off (except you).

Give him time . He is a little timid at the moment in his decision making but has got some pace and good feet. Every chance he is going to be useful.

What's wrong with passing it back and keeping the ball? Nothing most of the time, but there were quite a few instances where he needed to turn and look for a forward pass. I think with more games and a bit of confidence that'll come.

You can certainly see why Stoke fans don't like him He needs to find a position, and be given a chance in that position. He's not an out and out attacking midfielder, but he's quick and neater and tidier than what we're used to so it seems a bit wasteful to play him as a defensive midfielder. He's not a defensive midfielder in the sense that he makes tackles. His pace, which we lack, is also wasted playing defensively. For me his attributes are that of a possession based midfielder who links and keeps the game ticking over. He needs someone in midfield who is similar in that sense and someone behind to do the donkey work. I'd like to see him next to Thompson and in front of Mikel. I think he also needs pace outside of him and ahead of him so he can actually use his passing ability.

Thompson and TOB completely swapped places in terms of the impressions I've formed of them so far last night.

Both I think are an example of the type of players we should be getting & developing

I would imagine his pass backwards here would have got the groaning treatment from the Boothen.
Nothing on but "get it forward get it forward" anyway.
Or keep possession, build the move and go from there.
