We must have some poor players if McClean will improve our starting 11. If you want evidence .....see lat season. It is pretty much universally agreed, even amongst those who are prejudiced against him, that he was in the top 2 of our best players over the whole of last season. Absolutely not. I think you're forgetting that we actually did quite well without him after he was injured. Although it forced a few changes in the way we played, with Powell, our best player, asked to play on the wing. And you're forgetting that we have changed system since McClean was last operating, with 352. Some people have forgotten the problems he had and caused when he played as a defender. Now the new system - or the choices made within the system - hasn't worked so far. If we go back to 433 or 4231 there's probably no alternative to him playing there, unless we will continue misplace our best there.

To suggest is a grudge is nonsense. iI think most Catholics from the North support the Republic or would choose them t o play fort them, certainly in my circles including myself. recent history shows that ,you only have to check out the flags at the games and locations and watching the Republic at several tournaments confirmed that. McClean has been struggling to train with a knee injury and his comments that he hasn't done enough suggest no more than fitness wise not up to it
missed him massively yesterday
excuse the crappy keyboard

I don’t think you can reasonably say that a footballer who has played about 350 games in the top two leagues of the English pyramid is a pretty poor footballer. You probably can't in England where running non stop is considered more worthy than skill on the ball, in some quarters. But on the continent you don't find players of his ilk. We are not playing on the continent though!

It’s a football myth to say otherwise.

I really hope that the fact that McClean wasn’t in the team on Saturday doesn’t mean that MON has been listening to Bayern. God help us if he has.

At least he runs through brick walls, this lot looked like they'd be scared to open their Xmas presents. Tame! I know he's not Messi but at least he gives us some energy and not one decent cross from the left today. Love that..... 😂 "down with this sort of thing..." "careful now..." 🤣🤣🤣

It's amazing how much better players are perceived when they aren't playing. Run through a brick wall you say? Probably the same brick wall I bang my head against after he fails to find a man with a cross. Well he set up the one goal we've managed this season.
