Yes I know he's just 18 but there is something I find troubling about this message that comes from their clubs/managers that footballers are somehow not responsible for any of their shortcomings. Basically Solksjaar is blaming this on the fact that he shouldn't have been picked in the first place. Its a bit of a double dig at Southgate as he also seems to be hinting that he was not being managed how he should be managed in the first place Are clubs and managers scared of players or what? The thing I like about MON is he is much more upfront about what he thinks of his footballers, I don't think he would be making these excuses for one of his players, or at least he would be acknowledging that they have made bad choices. He had a right go at the youngsters in public and look at how it paid off last night! Its just a bit of a modern day issue with me. Cloughie would have had him playing for his son's Sunday League team! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54204232

I mean, he is an 18 year old boy. He will do stupid things like most 18 year olds would when they are considered the next big thing and idolised all of a sudden. I mean, I can’t even begin to imagine the power trip I would have even now with that. He should be reprimanded internally and protected by his manager outwardly.
I don’t like comments about a manager saying he shouldn’t be included in a national team, especially not from Ole, a true legend for Norway.
