But in football you are only good as your last game. What impact would dropping those two for the next game have on them? They should start on Sunday. By all means have others on the bench who can step in if things go awry.

The idea of going back to watching Danny Batth playing is depressing. Great to se the promise of Collons and Soutar, but more than a bit harsh on Baath. He's never been the one to blame in any match he plays in. He's not a world beater, but he's a committed and honest pro who gives 100%. He's like Bluto was, ever reliable, but doesn't have a Denis Smith to play alongside.he always puts a shift in, and we've had plenty worse than Baath.I certainly won't be depressed watching Baath. The difference tonight was why Batth isn’t the answer though. They were all so calm on the ball and it made a massive difference.

I'm Not judging him off this game but I saw him a lot for Fleetwood, it just makes the Chester signing look daft, especially with Collins and to a lesser extent Lindsay in our ranks. And our FFP situation

He might have scored a couple of goals. I love to see how well the young guns are doing, but don't see that as a reason to slag of a decent player like Baath.

What are you going on about? You’ve literally come on here to bait me when we’ve played well and won. It’s odd. Collins and Souttar > Batth and Chester Tymon > McClean The futures bright.

I don't intend to slag off Batth, he certainly improved after lockdown and he is a committed player. But it is a fact that overall he's struggled for us, let's not forget he was a regular in a team that leaked goals all over the show throughout last season. He is appalling on the ball, and he creates a lot of panic because he gifts the ball to the opposition all the time. He also has so many lapses in concentration. Tonight was the first time since shawcross when he was fit that I've seen a centre back performance of that quality for us, it was all there, and in particular the calmness in the way he went about it. Wolves threw on all their best players and we withstood it. He's at least a level up from Batth already. I agree its hard for the manager to drop Batth after a good defensive performance against Millwall but there is no doubt Souttar us ready to take that position, and I'm sure he will very soon.

He might have done but he probably wouldn’t. This whole goals thing with him has only been evident for like 3 games 😂 The young centre backs we have are like and chalk and cheese compared to him. The younger one have his grit but can also play. Batth is such a terrible footballer and we need to wean ourselves off him.

Play them in cup games until someone let's us down in the league - win win
Not surprised Souttar has stepped up - he had rave reviews at Fleetwood

I’m certainly no lover of Batth, he has been one of the main reasons our defence has been so useless for the best part of two seasons, BUT he has been our standout defender after the Leeds game ( where he was useless), and as such should keep his place until his form drops off. Really the one who should be most at risk is Chester ( for either Souttar or Collins), but again, his performances over the last 4 games do mean the position is his to lose. What Souttar has done tonight ( against a side fielding a forward who terrorised Man City, a club record signing and then a forward who scored over 25 goals last season) is show that he is NOT the write off that some of the Oatcake posters would have us believe. I’m sure they will own up to being impressed with his performance against a pretty strong Wolves team tonight.

Neither Baath or Chesters have done nothing wrong to be dropped at this moment in time though. If they do we can be confident that we’re in safe hands. They can't pass a ball like Souttar did tonight so I'd replace them on that alone, it makes the world of difference.

This system suits our personnel better.
Very rarely have we played well as a flat 4 in the last 2 years even under MON. We got our best results as a 3 but we were missing a CDM. Mikel will make a difference there most league games.
The hard bit has always been to be expansive with a 3 and a CDM and to simultaneously pose a threat. We need at least one of 3 at the back to be a ball player or the CDM to hit a pass. Neither BMI, Baath or Chester have that vision.
The energy and vision in front of them is key now. I think Tymon is a Clucas back-up or plays in McLeans role, he looked tireless tonight.
The mobility of Brown and Ty playing off Fletcher, who is a very clever experienced forward is my preferred choice. Gregory and Vokes don't offer enough and Ince just seems surplus now. I guess it's useful to keep one maybe to throw in the mixer, if we need to, but I'd let one of those three go for another pacy player.
Playing BMI, Chester, Baath, Gregory and Vokes in the same team is too one dimensional.
One more in and I think we are good to go. We have 2x like for like in most positions.
We finally look like a team that is being properly coached. Players understand the roles and are motivated to hold their 1st team places. MON has transformed the club from a dire position a truly incredible achievement given what he inherited and the fact we needed a result in almost every game since he arrived last term.

They can't pass a ball like Souttar did tonight so I'd replace them on that alone, it makes the world of difference. There was nothing special about Souttars passing tonight, a few misplaced ones like any other defender. He'll no doubt get his chance when the Baath's form drops but at the minute he's playing well. He was very good defensively tonight though and given we're playing again midweek, he'll be saved for then.

Soutter has been the subject of lot's of negativity on here, totally unjustified. He is a good defender and a real asset for corners. His time at Fleetwood has been good for him and I forsee many more years at Stoke if he isn't poached.

Don't you think they've earned it? No not yet, it's 1 game, let's not get too carried away eh. Gouranga. This. It looks a good result on paper and Wolves put out a decent side but they played like it was a pre-season friendly and never got out of second gear so making snap decisions about selection based on that game isn't a great idea. However very encouraging from the youngsters and I wouldn't be surprised if either or both aren't first choice by the end of the season either on merit or necessity.

That is a break through performance, absolutely flawless and dominant all the way through. You can't justify not giving him a run in the first team after that.He has to play We defended really well as a team, was the Stoke of old, everyone playing for each other. That is the secret ,defence is a unit not individuals.
