The legend that is Mark Stein made his debut.
Beat Hartlepool 3-2 , though he was not on the scoresheet
What a player, got to be our best value for money signing in the last 40 years

Didn’t he score in something like 7 consecutive games for Chelsea before getting injured. I could be imagining that though.

Forever will he be my hero.

Didn’t he score in something like 7 consecutive games for Chelsea before getting injured. I could be imagining that though. He sure did. Beaten by Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Steino was the hottest property around at one point. Only a serious ankle injury prevented him getting an england cap at that time.

I could be imagining that though. yes in 93/94 season, and probably stopped them from getting relegated, Vialla took over as manager and he didn't really get a look in after that. He scored 2 in the last game to relegate Sheff United on that mad last day in 94 that Everton escaped relegation.

Whenever he had a clear site of goal in the box, or when he was through 1 on 1, there was never any doubt where the ball would end up. Easily the best finisher Stoke have had in my lifetime.

Loved Steino but let’s not forget his time with us was at lower levels Def good value for money signing But for me a long way behind Shawcross Rory Ric and a few others Didn't you hear what Alan Parry said? "This man is magic!" Him and Ric are on par, maybe ric a smidge behind the golden one.

Steino was better than Fuller in my eyes. Quite different players - he was just a pure goal scorer in a way that Ric wasn't. Players with that amount of composure in the box are rare.

Cant use the well Steino played for us in the lower leagues because when he went to chelsea he scored 21 goals in 50 appearances for Chelsea. Ric got 18 in 110 appearances

God love them both and while a lot of time ric was unplayable I would have to pick steino just but both legends I’ve no issue with that mate but Fuller for me Steino for me. Ric was fantastic but Stein was unbelievable and went on to prove it, albeit for a short time pre-injury, that he was more than good enough at the top level. He was the hottest property in the country and was being touted for an England cap before the ankle injury put him out for nearly 12 months. Ric was unplayable at times. Steino was unplayable more often than not.

Anyway enough about those two Bertie or Thorney? Biggins for me but case for both Sheron better than either Loved all three, but agree with that assessment. Sheron and Biggins were both very classy, Thorney not as much but a brilliant header of the ball and a natural finisher. Think I'd go: 1) Fuller 2) Steino 3) Crouch 4) Sheron 5) Biggins 6) Beattie 7) Thorne
