is there a way I can do this avoiding roads as much as possible?
Looks like there is a path that skirts the training ground and comes out near Northwood nurseries, is that path passable by bike?
Ir any other routes.

Ir any other routes. I'd go down over the canal, over the a500 and then either go along Campbell road or to avoid that cycle along the path by the Trent. Head to the training ground and follow the path around and it leads up a very steep hill to where it comes out where you say. Easily passable and enjoyable too, Just a couple of bits you need to push the bike through (deters motorcycles). You could then turn right and head down towards the A34 again and join the Lyme valley pathway to head into the centre of castle.

Im dropping the car off for its MOT and wife has broke her wrist so can't drive to pick me up. I've actually got to get to madeley heath but just wanted to avoid the busier roads.

Ir any other routes. I used to bike to/from stoke Station via the path you reference, as well as walk to/from the brit, so know it very well. Yes it is accessible via bike. I used to do it on a road bike, and whilst I never fell off or had a puncture you need to be careful of: - going down the bank if its wet and/or there are leaves on the ground - once you reach the bottom of the bank its gravel/stone. Would be fine on a mountain bike but need to be careful on a road bike - its pitch black in winter, so would recommend you have a light Once you're by the mitch its a doddle, and campbell round is always quiet and an easy ride!

Just read the whole thread. I can't think of a way to get to madeley heath without avoiding roads. I live baldwins gate and other than once have avoided cycling from castle way to home- the roads are a bit scary with the speed of cars and number of lorries

Up the path to come out near northwood nurseries Pick up lyme Valley Then old railway line though silverdale Finally top of silverdale to lycett to madeley heath Not that much time on main roads.

For the time you'd lose travelling past the training ground and up to Claytom, you may as well just travel down the a34 straight to Lyme Valley. You'll be on there a maximum of 5 mins, and 30mph max.

Took the original route, it was just over 10 miles and took me 41 mins. I get to do it in reverse tomorrow when I go to pick my car back up.
