Manager Mark Hughes said that "Bringing Kevin here is a real coup in my view, because he is a hugely talented young player who will undoubtedly add further quality to the group...There is a lot of money being spent this summer, so for us to get a player of Kevin’s calibre through the door for the price we have paid, in my opinion, is something we will really appreciate for years to come"

Ah but the board say “Chief executive has full executive responsibility for all football matters .” September 2020 Maybe you should send them a strongly worded letter to let them know of your frustration? No need they’ve made their choice and are reaping the consequences

We never needed Wimmer in the first instance which made it even odder.
A bit like Chester now bar the fee.

I can recall a similar tale. A Spurs fan I know was waxing lyrical about him. To say I was excited about the signing was an understatement. It's fair to say I haven't bought him a pint since. Git.

'bar the fee' & that + his insane wages is the issue if we had paid market price - £5m + £30k a week & then he'd failed we would have been able to move him on by now Who negotiated the fee & the wages? Scholes Out as for Chester, & I appreciate you simply won't have this despite the evidence being there for a while now - him & Batth have formed a decent partnership , Batth form has improved for all (bar you) to see since the Leeds debacle clean sheets have been coming our way That's not despite Chester

Could have bought Coady and Tarkowski and still had 19 million quid left over. Recruitment that bad should be a criminal offence. It seriously should be.Add Lewis Dunk to the list as well.

I still maintain that Wimmer is the worst signing in Stoke's history. Imbula and Berahino have obvious talent but also have serious attitude issues. You can argue that Imbula or Berahino were worth having a punt with because of that talent. Wimmer was very clearly a jobbing layman centre back, it was clear from his very first appearance. I'm no fan of Chester but he is a class act in comparison to Wimmer.

I would love to hear the reasons why we signed him Also would like to see him have a couple of starts in cup games of course just to verify that he is a useless fucker

Wimmer has the ability to be a very good Championship player and a more than adequate PL one. He's just a bone idle fat knacker.

Scholes Out The negotiater on the other side was Dominic Levy. He's the meanest bastard in business and he knows how to get advantages for his club. Then I've always suspected some agent took a large slice of the actual fee. Wimmer's value was probably the smallest parameter in the final deal.

Not at all like Chester actually, but carry on! We don’t need him and he’s not very good. It’s very similar in that regard. Wimmer isn't fit to lace Chester's boots. At least Chester keeps him self in shape and doesn't come with any lunatic price tag. Secondly because of the low expectations he can just be transferred away once we are moving upwards, without having to resort to Istanbul cabs all the time.
