I honestly don't really give a fuck about either cups. Bowing out gracefully with a respectable scoreline against Premier League opponents will do me just fine, just got to avoid the morale crusher of going out to 'worse' sides.
Don't get me wrong when we were in the Premier League with a vaguely strong side all I cared about was the cups more or less, but we're in no position to win one so I can't say I want the fixture congestion or potential injuries that they bring.

I hope we give it a go.
Call me old fashioned but I love the Cups and if we get past Wolves we've got a great chance of going through in the next round

They will put out A very very strong team very close to their first 11 This is their best chance of some silver ware and no Europa to distract. I don't have a good feeling about this fixture. Agree

Wolves fans/journos seem to be expecting loads of changes from them too. Still looks a strong team thoigh Front 6 all with names ending in vowels, very exotic ! Just missing the u from a,e,i,o,u If they replaced Jota with Joselu we might stand a chance

Yup we did I was probably at that match too! Seem to recall a really good goal from Gerry Daly, or was it Talbot 🤔🤔 I can recall Bruce scoring against us in a night match at the Vic & Ruel Fox playing well for them, dont know if I'm mixing up with a previous league game?

team to play Wolves ...... Blondy; Shawcross, Baath, Souttar, Tymon, Clucas, Cousins, Thompson, Kyremeteng, OkeyBooth, Fletcher. Subs: Davies, McClean, Porter, Edwards, Gregory, Lindsay. And no Butland and Ince for Bristol please. Are Wolves' defence good at dealing with crosses and corner kicks? Might be our only option. Route One is the go.

Do you two ever have a good feeling about any fixture? With five mins to go of the Bolton FA Cup semi, Benji put a fiver on us to win by more than 1 goal. #confidence

However it's been established over the course of the summer that Tymon has excellent qualities going forward as a wingback. But even as a wingback he needs a helping hand from one of a defensive three to cover up his deficiences, a leftsided central defender. We're lucky that we have three players who are well equipped to do just that. Curiously Fox and Tymon might seem like competitors for much of the same space, but if Fox plays centrally (central left that is) he and Tymon could work well together. But Lindsay, a very underrated player in my opinion, also starts attacks from the left central defender position, and could also work well together with Tymon, with a DM covering up, they could both make forays into the opposition half. Third option is Bruno, who worked very well with Tymon for the 20-25 mins vs Forest, but I expect he will be rested. The main question though is how prepared are we to have an attacking agenda vs Wolves. Even if they play their second string they still have players that are superior to ours (I suppose we'll have to hope that they aren't as well drilled). If we plan on defending essentially 90 mins, then you're probably better off leaving Tymon (and Ince) out, and then throw one or both on with 10-15 mins left as we chase a way back into the game.

It goes without saying but we need to avoid conceding a couple of goals early on and have to chase the game.
If we do we could go for the proverbial cricket score.
If we are say just a single goal behind going on go the last 20 minutes it could get very tense, if we nicked a goal then we would be straight in to the 50/50 of penalties.
With Gillingham up next we could almost sniff the last 16 !

Wolves 2nd team is a top half prem team, can’t see anything but a defeat, but I am an eternal pessimist.
No point in risking anyone who will play Sunday tonight.

None of Saunday's team should be involved
FA slipped up as was the ideal time to kick it into touch
At least the crowds will be similar

Should be quite an interesting guide about who's really out of his thinking.
Very hard to guess the XI, even if we can guess it'll basically be a second string team. Doubt he'll want to include any of players who started on Saturday.
Which formation of the 2? Is Fletcher fit enough to start? Will we cup-tie Butland? Is Edwards completely out of it? Collins played at RB against Leeds. Tymon another chance in midfield, so he can play both him and McClean? Any viable alternative to Fox in a back 4? There's BMI but may want to rest him?
How can he involve Ince, Brown and Campbell? With a back 4, you can only see 1 featuring as the only forwards that can play there on their own are Vokes, Gregory and Fletcher.
Butland Collins Souttar Lindsay Fox TOB Cousins Tymon Brown Gregory McClean
Butland Collins Souttar Lindsay Brown TOB Cousins Tymon McClean Gregory Campbell
...and no space for Thompson in either, who you'd think would actually start. So who knows?

If Souttar does play it will be interesting to see how he plays against top quality opposition. Tymon has to start for me and not sure Cousins will play after 90 mins on Monday?.

Do any of these round progressions come with useful prize money? No, the winners last time only got £150k, make the 1/4 final and you get £25k. the best pay day would come for a small team getting a big teams gate receipts, which isn't going to happen this time.
