Having slept on it and on reflection a couple of thoughts: I was really impressed with the way the team kept their shape throughout the match and prevented Wolves making any clear cut chances. The young players were great and Smith was excellent, but spare a thought for the captain Indi, who played one of his best games for a long time, against his old manager. People on here forcast Traore would tear him to shreds. I’ll hold my hands up to that one. Indi was superb and will be hard to shift in the left sided centre half role

Eh? Since when? I didn’t answer the original post because I think it’s daft but if what you’ve said is true (and I don’t believe for one second it isn’t) then it makes it even more pointless. The one season in the last 45 that we had playing competitive games all over Europe and beyond (in Israel) was one of the highlights of my Stoke supporting life and we visited some truly fantastic and incredible places. I would love to do it all again whether that be a first, second, third or even tenth tier competition. We had as much fun in Tel Aviv and Thun as we did in Valencia, Kiev and Istanbul. The whole experience for a fan of a club of our standing where we rarely qualify for European competitions was brilliant. Bring on the Europa Conference! BM Completely agree. I spent the first week of my honeymoon in a stupidly expensive hotel in Mexico watching our Europa League qualifying games vs Split and Thun on my ipad drinking the all inclusive champagne with a shit eating grin on my face. The staff thought it was hilarious. Even if it was only the Ann Summers sparkly editable panties Europe Conference Trophy i want Stoke to try to qualify! 🤣

O'Neill has obviously made it his mission to make us play a certain way on the road it seems as he said we needed improving. Isn't entertaining so far but really couldn't care less if we pick up results. Davros could have kept goal our last 2 away games at Wolves and Millwall
we're starting to look the real deal dare I say it

True but results the only thing that matter in this bloody horrible division.Come May if we've scored a goal per game and gone up will live with that. Be interesting to see how we set up at home

[m br] Fair enough as I’ve said I bow to Michael on this one Don't give up on your team before a ball has been kicked. Bring on the giants of Kent football. Well actually the only league team there actually. Prior to 1855 and the formation of the London Metropolitan Area Charlton was in Kent.

Would it be meaningless if we won the cup and made it to the Europa ? Dunno about "meaningless" but it would certainly be a surprise:
From next season the EFL winners go into the new third tier competition being created (above).
EDIT: lordb beat me to it.
Oh god they’re devaluing the League Cup even more then? Any biggish team will be actively trying to avoid winning it now

It doesn’t. Tymon is the one for me though that should be next in line. He was head and shoulders above TOB and Thompson. Had fewer touches and lost the ball more times. Some might say that players like that will get punished against a harder working championship team. Also completed fewer passes and was bypassed more times. Not trying to put the lad down but he certainly wasn’t head and shoulders above the other lads. Yet he still did much better and is the one from people that watched that stood out more.

Oh god they’re devaluing the League Cup even more then? Any biggish team will be actively trying to avoid winning it now For the bigger teams it’s just another trophy. The winnings and Europe qualifications are irrelevant if they’ve got ambitions to qualify for a higher standard of European football. It does open the door to a few surprise teams reaching the latter stages though.

last time we had gills in a cup game ? 2012 3-1 victory at Priestfield. I think that was the day Phil Taylor was spotted in the Stoke crowd although Vale were playing only a relatively short distance away at Colchester. That was hilarious, didn't stay long did he.
