I honestly can't see why they're even playing this comp. Would I want us to go on some magical run & get to Wembley & we can't be there to see it - not a chance. Would rather us getting binned out now. The only glamour left of the Carabao cup is the midweek aways against teams in other leagues. This competition is utterly pointless without crowds - should've been sacked off for the season - needless extra fixtures. Whilst I wouldn’t have been arsed if it had been cancelled for this season, and a loss on Thursday will be met with nothing more than a shrug of my shoulders, with a squad the size of ours it gives us more chance of competitive football for the fringe players. Butland (or Noukeu if we’re still hoping to sell JB) Edwards Collins Shawcross Souttar Tymon Cousins Thompson Oakley Boothe Afobe Gregory A 5-3-2/3-5-2 of players that didn’t start on Saturday. Put Fletcher in if he isn’t to start this weekend.

But what's odd to me ...(Coming from the US) is how professional franchises can afford to risk any players, even backups to compete in an extra series of competitions that don't impact the regular season standings. (And we don't even have relegation in any of our major sports!) I get the whole World Cup thing, but extra domestic competitions? You could end up with injuries to key players (Like Stoke have had for the past few years) and now not only can you be negatively affected for the actual season, it could contribute to a relegation scenario. Even the international competitions, (look what happened with Jack) you get a Mo Salah hurt playing for a piece of hardware and it could cost you many millions. Not saying it's completely wrong, it's just kind of an oddity to me. Wasn't Bojan hurt in one of these cup competitions?

I'd like to use it to give a few a run out who did not start at Millwall (or for the under-23s) - save for McClean, who I'd keep back for a start on Sunday - and also try a few in other positions where they could play, but still putting out a team to give it a go:
Davies (so Jack is not cup tied ahead of his move)
Collins Souttar Bruno
Brown Ince Thompson Oakley-Boothe Tymon
Vokes Gregory
Then Sunday, go for:
Davies
Smith Batth Chester Fox
Mikel Clucas
Campbell Powell McClean
Fletcher

I actually agree ,but it's a chance for Mon to tell fringe players they had their chance and were wink. Sorry 'wink wink ,not good enough.' These games at least give him a chance to control and evaluate our huge squad and if someone wants to really shine ,happy days

I’ve seen a few Porto fans on social media saying that they’ve had Wolves pants down with the fee. It must be exciting times being a Wolves fan though, they’re a fantastic side and recruit very well.

Yeah, he could be the next Ronaldo or he could easily be the next Nelson Oliveira...... 40m is a lot to pay for "potential". I seem to recall Porto are quite good at extorting large amounts of cash out of clubs in the Midlands for sub-standard footballing product.

Just because this is possible:
When is the last time, in fact have we ever, beaten a top flight side in the League of FA Cups as a second tier side?
I know Gudjon's Stoke beat Charlton but that was as a third tier side
Honestly think we may never have beaten a top flight side as a second tier side in either competition.
Anyone know?

They will put out A very very strong team very close to their first 11 This is their best chance of some silver ware and no Europa to distract. I don't have a good feeling about this fixture.

Using the shadow XI against Leeds as a bit of a guide. (and I can't remember the formation but seem to remember Tymon played on the left of a midfield 3 and Ince was kind of number 10?) It'll be interesting to see just how far out of it Edwards is if Smith or an out-of-position Collins play. And equally interesting if we don't want to get Butland cup-tied too. Another run out for Tymon in the middle with McClean on the left? Doubt Vokes will play - so maybe Gregory. Can't see us involving Mikel at all.

Yeah I'm expecting a thrashing. They'll probably take it seriously, or they certainly should do, and we'll probably play a weakened team.
