There’s absolutely no need for that though. Very worrying. Our win at Forest on the last day stopped us from having the worst away record in the division last season. It’s not worrying in the slightest, merely an acknowledgement that we were a defensive shambles on the road. But we played in a defensive manner and didn’t get the results. We didn’t have the DM we have now and we didn’t have a striker that can hold it up like Fletcher. To shit your pants with the attacking talent we have and the players we have who can play keep ball is weak.

We weren’t open because we were trying to attack were we? 5 goals at Huddersfield, and 4 at Barnsely and Forest would suggest otherwise. We are still potentially crap at defending, due to us essentially using exactly the same players other than Fox and maybe Mikel. We caved in completely at times away from home last season, and also lost loads of points from winning positions. There is nothing wrong in being a bit more difficult to beat, even if that may mean a slightly lesser goal threat at times.

Just like saying the games at Derby, Wigan and Leeds don’t show we were too open. They are outliers. Generally we didn’t go to away games looking for a result, would concede a goal and that would be curtains. And of course there isn’t but as your main game plan when you have 4 genuine goal threats like we do that can be used in a balanced way in the same side it’s a bit weak and completely negative as your main tactic.

I think you need to re-adjust your ambitions and realise that these players finished 16th and 15th in the Championship over the last two years. By and large, we have a poor/average group of players who have the bonus of being led by a very good (but sometimes pragmatic) manager.

Most of them. We go into most away games trying not to concede with the hope of nicking one. I can’t believe anyone would think we’ve been maverick or done anything to warrant a complete set of defensive tactics. We just need to be balanced and play a game we can play.

I’ve said over the last 2 years we have an ok group of players that need a good manager. MON will get us top half playing boring bollocks football. I think top 6 can be achieved if he attacks.

Boring bollocks football😄😄You really haven’t got a clue. 49 goals in 31 games from a set of players/team that hadn’t scored 3 goals in a game for how long🤔More laughable bollocks from you

We got our best results under him attacking and playing 4231...... Not sure how it’s bollocks? I don’t want him to go defensive because I think that’s his default.

Goals are the way forward not a formation designed to protect your 2 shit centre halves. He wants us to be better defensively. With our away record recently, you can’t blame him for that. Over time, the balance you refer to will come im sure. As things stand, we will get nowhere in this league until we tighten up and be more competitive.

Are you saying our manager, who watched us produce the worst away form in the league right up to the last match, should just sit there and watch us do exactly the same again without trying to make us more difficult to beat?

I wouldn’t expect him to shit his pants after us going out and being defensive in away games didn’t work. I would hope he wouldn’t sign one of the shit defenders that made us so open. I would hope he would replace the other one. I would hope he wouldn’t build a formation to protect bad players. I would hope he would sign a DM ( he did so yay). I would then hope for some balance. The away results weren’t about being too open because of the system the mindset. It was Joe Allen being Joe Allen and the defence being theirselves. Sign a DM and the balance changes immediately.

Stop being so dismissive and downright arrogant towards your fellow supporters. You`ve been pedaling this crap for a while now. Take it from someone who has supported this club for a lot longer than you, we like positive football and good footballers as much as any other club does. Maybe we just live in a more realistic world than you do.

I don’t think it’s good football and I don’t want to overly watch it. And it’s rightfully pilloried by most. You only have to hear the crowd if the defence dares to pass it more than 3 times to each other.

You're right they do, which makes it even more strange people seem happy to watch him nulify one of our best forward player by swamping him in midfield. Shit his pants is probably a bit strong but his go to is defencive and made sense last season, but we've since signed a DM that can protect the defence, why start out defencive straight away why not go for balance first and see whats needed from there, its the first game of the season, let them play and if its a disaster then work on why etc.
