I am adding little and often in premium bonds as I am trying to save for a deposit for a house, I know that it doesn't give any guarantee on returns, and with interest rates being shocking, I figured it's better to save premium bonds as it's not in my account and it is building up nicely. Has anyone else got any premium bonds? and have you ever had a win?

I helped deliver bread on a Saturday when I was about 12, I got paid 50p for working most of the day, I saved my first 10 weeks wages and bought a £5 premium bond, think that was the minimum you could buy. I've had it well over 40 years now and it's never won me a bloody bean

In 1976 my mum and dad won £1000 on ERNIE, they spent some of it on a 50cc moped. My gran seemed to be picking up the odd 20 quid every now and then.

My Grandad in the East End had a number of unorthodox income streams, the proceeds of which could not be put in a bank. So he started buying Premium Bonds and became obsessed with winning the big prize which was £25 000 at that time. He had the maximum allowed allocation and every budget he was desperate for it to be increased, he starting buying them for family members and all 19 grandkids whenever they were born. He'd win tenners and fifties all the time but it just drove him mad not to win the big one. One my aunts bought him a toilet roll holder bearing the words "Don't Sit Here All Day dreaming of that £25 000". I always remember Premium Bonds as being a major topic of regular conversation in their house.

Cash is king at the moment, pointless investing it as the returns are very low.
I think gold is always a safe bet.

First question when buying crypto should be "how much can you afford to lose?" If you're saving for a deposit on a house the answer is probably "nothing". Unless you're forecasting hyperinflation of course.

First question when buying crypto should be "how much can you afford to lose?" If you're saving for a deposit on a house the answer is probably "nothing". Unless you're forecasting hyperinflation of course. Hyper inflation is already in process. Look at the fed printing the usd. Bitcoin increased 200% since March. You can’t invest in anything without some serious research though, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone ☺️
