The game I was at on Sunday had over 200 in, plenty of space for socially distancing. Beer served through the window of the clubhouse, no going inside

Probably a 500 or 1000 people limit. Look at the picture, its 75% capacity.

Firstly, point me to where I said ‘just get on with life’. I didn’t. Secondly, “we can easily stay in lockdown for 12 months”... can we? Do you want to explain to all the people who lost their jobs after just a few months of lockdown, how they will pay their mortgages and feed their families when they can’t get work? Furlough for 12 months means tested. A national minimum income paid to everyone for a 12 month period. If people are not going out discretionary spend is limited. Covid is hastening the demise of a lot of zombie businesses that were on life support anyway. Retail etc. Mortgage holidays can also be mandated so I don't see this risk. An extra ten percent on income tax also woukd fund this. Everyone needs to tighten belts in this period. End of. Did you get your username from the John Lennon song? The irony of your last two sentences would have him spinning in his grave.

That was Labour’s approach in the 1960/70s, it caused a massive “brain drain” and nearly bankrupted the country. Raises income tax too much and all the high wage earners will move somewhere else. Raise corporation/corporate tax rates and the jobs will move too. I am not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, but you have to be careful what you ask for.

Can't believe that 2000 people at the Palladium has gone largely unmentioned. Did Dowden comment on it at all?

The biggest movement on jobs (excluding COVID) will be Brexit, but the majority of people voted for it. Anyone who doesn’t think that taxes will increase massively in a couple of year’s time ( both individual and Corporate) is living in cloud cuckoo land; of course the really wealthy will have excellent advisers to minimise their liability.

I agree though, apart from a few tweets from Adrian Durham and 1 or 2 others, it's like it's gone totally unnoticed. I really thought at least some of the EFL clubs would really make some noise about this. It's like everyone has just given up and accepted it.

Eight thousand fans at the Finland v Ireland game in Helsinki last night, capacity forty thousand. It looks like a lot of the Nations League games had fans(30% capacity) and it was all carried out in a very safe and controlled manner. I've not seen any stories anywhere in Europe yet suggesting that outbreaks have occurred from football matches, so no idea why we aren't taking the same approach.

Other countries with low cases are allowed to do this ...we are not due to cases going through the roof and death rates rising .....until it’s under control they won’t even think about fans returning to the higher level of the game

Dortmund have been having 10k+ at home games. Technically, we(England) were allowed to do this by Uefa under the regulations they set for the Nations League. It's only our fuckwit government that stopped it.

I miss going down stoke just as much as the next man but I just don’t see how social distancing is going to work. It’s all well and good saying it’s reduced capacity but what happens when everyone goes for a piss at half time for example? Is it really feasible to be asking fans to arrive and leave the ground at the different times ?

They don't seem to be having any problems moving around the concourses.

Yes but think they stopped again Think they have in Holland also I doubt we’ll see a live game this year at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all season. They’re making noises about only 15 people (including bride and groom) at my wedding next May...

Fans would social distance? Whoever thinks that is seriously thick as fuck.
I go around shops and petrol stations and I think, am I the only one wearing a mask? People stand about a foot away from me in a sandwich shop with no mask, until I tell them to keep your distance.
Are people thick as fuck in this country, or just bloody ignorant.

How do you they are social distancing in the concourse when everyone leaves at the same time ? If this sort of thing is really an issue for people, then don't go. In fact don't go out anywhere. When leaving the concourse at the end of the game, you just simply walk out as if you would from a supermarket or shop or any other establishment you've been in. Also, there would likely be a maximum of maybe 500-1000 people in a stand at any one time, so you're not exactly going to be fighting each other for space

I understand that you can't avoid these people going about your daily life, and there are inconsiderate fuckers out there, but going to the football is a choice. If you don't feel safe, don't go.

Do people really think as fat head Steve Bruce has said this morning, there should be 20 thousand people at St James this weekend, there wouldn't be hundreds throwing beer around and singing in the concourses?
