Just been looking at the promoted teams, the ones that were already in, and the teams coming down and thinking this is probably one of the poorest championships for a while!
If it is, this could stand us in good stead for moving forward. The only team I’d say should be top 2 is Norwich, and, that’s probably being generous! Thoughts?

Famous last words right there! ;0)
Doesn’t matter who is in this league it’s not an easy league and this season with the games packed so tightly together it will be even harder not too mention that all being well the euros kick off next summer and there is no gap, some players will take foot off gas who have summer football too
Also this is final year of our parachute payments, big changes season after if we don’t go up!

Its been the same for 20 years and more. We could be top half not pushing the top two.

It's been poor since relegation, we've just made a massive pigs ear of it. Just by being solid next season we'll be in and around the play offs.

I don’t think it’s fair to call it poor before it starts because its quality generally comes from unpredictable sources. That’s the beauty of the Championship.

There’s no Bielsa or Bilic this year. Just a lot of teams who are much of a muchness. We have a chance for sure.

Great points Flea - and ominous points, especially regarding the last of the parachute payments. Regardless of what you think about the quality of this league, it's competitive as hell and the matches come fast. Injuries are the major "joker in the pack." Now you have the Carabao Cup and the damned Euros thrown in next summer.... You start the season thinking that your team is Carmen Electra, only to discover about 1/2 way through that it's more like Nora Batty with her twisted ankle.

Norwich's team should walk it this year.
They've signed players that perform in the Championship and have kept hold of their better players from relegation.
For me it's a battle for 2nd place.

It's only "poor" in the sense it's no where near the standard of the Premiership - but it's still a sod of league to get out of. However if by "poor" you mean wide open I agree - it's anyone's to win and we're as "poor" as pretty much every team in the league.

Norwich were truly abysmal last year with something like20 defeats from their final 23 games. You don’t suddenly turn that “used to losing” momentum into romping away with the Championship. They will do well to make the Play Offs- I’d give Bournemouth or Watford more of a chance.

They've kept hold of Godfrey, Lewis, Aarons, Buendia and Cantwell (so far). With that squad, anything less than automatic promotion would be awful.

It could be described as, say, a tinpot league. One would expect a side of our stature to, perhaps, piss it?

Quality wise it's terrible bar the odd player. It is super competitive though which people like and it's a massive slog (which contributes to the lack of quality). Bar 4 or 5 sides anyone can get on a run and go up.

For me it's a battle for 2nd place. I think we've proven that doesn't always work out.. It doesn't. But the Norwich situation is significantly different isn't it? We were an established Premier League side with (supposedly) established Premier League players. Norwich were a team that were favourites to go down before a ball was kicked and much of the players have spent their whole careers in the second division. A bit like Fulham really. They kept hold of their players and went straight back up. Norwich should be doing the same with their team really.

I think it will be a bastard to escape from, same as it always is.
So many teams with similar standard squads and identical ambitions and only 3 places to play for.
It will be the usual bun fight right to the end,

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the championship to the pansy obsessed, divers club, away fan rip off media wank fest that is the premier league.
They can shove that league, sideways.

What you actually mean is its competitive. With no real stand out candidates.
Almost any team could make a good go of a top 6 push.
A packed calendar with any team being able to beat any other team.
I love the championship!

There is normally a Newcastle, West Brom, West Ham and even used to be Sunderland around. I guess the only real yo-yo club would have to be Norwich this season.
I wouldnt mind Stoke becoming a Yo-Yo club. Certainly West Brom fans over the last few years have had a real rollercoaster ride.
How many times have we ever been promoted via the play-offs? I can only remember one time against Brentford many years ago. We dont have a good track record of play-offs to my mind.
