The cinemas are open again - anyone seen anything good?
With so few new releases, there are a load of re-releases and, it seems, non-English language films to see.
I checked out Les Miserables - which was excellent.

On the other hand, don’t waste your time watching Tenet.
Total shite.

I didn’t go the cinema before all this shite and I won’t be going after. What’s the attraction?

I didn’t go the cinema before all this shite and I won’t be going after. What’s the attraction? Cinemas are brilliant. Films are generally made to be shown on the big screen, the sound's better, no distractions like smart phones.

I’d rather be on my settee, big tv and surround sound, more importantly beer. I did go watch something with my daughter a couple of years back and was impressed by the seating. But still it’s just something that’s never really appealed🤷🏻♂️

Tenet didn’t exactly help things, as alluded to above.

A mate just saw "Queen and Slim". Is it any good? We were pretty morose in the pub after until about half way through the first pint. Not a happy film. It's a lot about a relationship and emotions between two people which isn't really my cup of tea but the pacing is cracking. It sort of compresses you with tension in the dangerous scenes and then decompresses you in between, but because the suspense scenes are so good that the contrast and context made the boring emotional scenes better for me. The women in the group really dug the feelings bits though. Watched it in the cinema where the intense scenes came across really well, not sure if it'd work so well on the telly but I'd recommend giving it a try if it's on. Unless you love Trump stuff, then it'll trigger you pretty hard because it doesn't say that victims of state violence are all scum.

it doesn't say that victims of state violence are all scum. Odd. I've seen a few about this film in Sweden and it has been accused of being racism, that the victims of state violence (the leading characters) are presented as scum. I think I have to see it sometime.
