I’ve just discovered that circumcising boys is extremely common with our friends across the pond. Apparently more boys are cut that aren’t. This was new info for me! Is this common knowledge?

A large Jewish population certainly adds to the numbers. Great money for the practitioners though. $90,000.00 a year. Plus tips...........

Read it as ‘Circumstances in US’ and thought ‘here we go again’.
Made a complete cock of myself there.

Why isn't it Male Genital Mutilation? Brilliant spot because that is exactly what it is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision_and_lawI guess it remains in place for several reasons: 1. A strong Jewish lobby 2. Ditto Muslim 3. Medical practitioners make money out of what is generally a completely unnecessary procedure and may often peddle false 'health benefits' (though it is occasionally necessary for older boys/men with tight fore skins - phimosis) Indeed some physicians suggest it causes unnecessary harm to the infant for purely psychosocial benefit - some countries in Scandinavia are discussing banning the practice

I have heard many years ago that it is widely practised in the USA, but had forgotten about it. Both the practice itself and the fact that I’d never heard of it. I come across quite a lot of yanks and nobody’s ever brought it up in conversation. Until now 🤔

American heterosexual female here. Anecdotal, but I've had sex with two Americans and two Europeans. Both the Americans were circumsised, and both the Europeans were not.
One of the Americans took care of his father in his father's final years. His father expressed that he wished he had been circumsised because he frequently got nasty infections under the foreskin. He was mostly bedbound and had a catheter, so it was impossible to practice good hygiene down there.
Another anecdote, one of my gay friends got circumsised as an adult. He said the aftermath was extremely painful. But it let him fulfill his dream of being a porn star because the producers only wanted circumsised men.

IMO it should be a banned medical practice. It absolutely is Male Genital Mutilation and should be treated as such. End of the day, it isn’t their mum or dads foreskin is it, or the docs for that matter . If they wish to have the surgery done later on in life as a grown up, then that is their choice. Some also choose to do auto-circumcision, where no surgery is performed and instead they leave it retracted till it basically looks circumcised. The bonus about this being it can be reversed again, the bad part being if it gets royally stuck it can get trapped and cut off the blood flow. I just find it a strange thing really. Surely there aren’t any benefits to it.

This isn't me saying everyone should have it done by the way I'm just pointing out that it isn't completely benefit free.

One in a series of notable American headlines or titles. The OP merely reminded me of Blondies' "French Kissing in the USA"!
