Newcastle United will entertain Championship side Stoke City in their final pre-season friendly. The Potters - managed by former Magpies midfielder Michael O'Neill - will travel to St. James' Park on Saturday, 5th September for a 1pm (BST) kick-off. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic and the Government guidelines around it, spectators will not be able to attend the match. The game will not be broadcast live and there will be no stream available, but the goals will be available to watch as they go in on Newcastle United's official social media channels. There will also be regular updates on Twitter at nufc and highlights shortly after the match on NUFC TV.

The cameras are there and can provide highlights so why no stream. Stoke media and relations with fans is appalling.

Why are people blaming Stoke?
Its at Newcastles ground! If they dont want to stream it, thats that and their choice - they arent going to let a number of outside staff come and setup cameras etc in the away ground.

Well said. Stops all of the frustration - temporarily and the highlights were excellent last time.

I understand that but they could easily allow Stoke access to the stream from the camera they are using to record the game or show it in full later if the problem is keeping fans away. Two teams playing so both should have some say. Still think its poor.

It's piss poor...from Newcastle You can't film and stream live from someone else's ground without their permission Why Newcastle won't allow it is beyond sense

If either club doesnt want a pre season game live' they dont have to - both teams have to give permission and I am guessing Castle dont want it on
Whether thats practising tactics, formations, new players whatever!
Crewe werent allowed to show a friendly vs Fleetwood the other night because Barton didnt want it shown.
Am sure we will cope.

They probably aren't ready to go public yet.

When we played Leicester preseason at home, Leicester streamed it and Stoke didn't, even though it was at our ground.

Well of course they had permission, that was the point of the post. He said ... "they arent going to let a number of outside staff come and setup cameras etc in the away ground." Well there's a very recent and a very relevant example of that not being true.

None of us are privy to what has gone on, we don't know if Stoke have even asked to stream it do we? But to say that a home club wouldn't let cameras in for it to be streamed by the away team is patently wrong.

Not if they don't give permission. Pipe down. And we don't know if Stoke have even asked for permission do we? And don't tell me to pipe down either. Seems highly improbable to me that we wouldn't have done What would help is if the club told us. But that would require a culture change. Scholes out.
