He does cross well - he actually looks up and picks out a player.
He doesnt overlap as much as he should be doing though. He isnt fit enough to get up and down the pitch over 90 minutes and he will only get slower

Edwards is supposedly a great crosser but he tries to put so much whip on the ball that when it works it looks great but all too often it goes badly wrong.
Smith is a much more steady crosser.

How do they measure accuracy of crosses? Is it purely based on whether a teammate gets on the end of it? In which case your teammates’ aerial ability must significantly affect the stats.

I thought Jack Harrison (Leeds), Anthony Knockaert (Fulham) and Said Benrahma (Brentford) might be up there, but according to Bein Sports (the only website I can find which gives 'successful crosses' data they're as follows: Harrison - 35 successful / 139 unsuccessful = 20.1% Knockaert - 23 successful / 98 unsuccessful = 19% Benrahma - 22 successful / 101 unsuccessful = 17.9% By comparison, McClean beats all three: James McClean - 44 successful / 170 unsuccessful = 20.6% Tom Edwards - 10 successful / 36 unsuccessful = 21.7% Tom Ince - 7 successful / 39 unsuccessful = 15.2% Stephen Ward - 12 successful / 20 unsuccessful = 37.5% (!!!) www.beinsports.com/au/efl-championship/statistics |

He's also done a few superb 50 yard crosses to the opposite wing which were inch perfect. To be honest his skill set is much more that of a winger than a full back. |

I'm in the minority but think I'll still be impressed in 30 years time with him being able to knock the ball in from that deep with occasional accuracy with the shape he used to get on it. |

Absolutely no surprise, that.
For all of his defensive deficiencies, I think he's better than Edwards going forward.
Picks his head up and finds his man so often. And it's not always lofted crosses - he loves a low cross when he goes to the byline.

As good as it is that tommy has the top stats in this part of the game. It just shows how average the championship is that not one player got even 50% of his crosses on target.
You can almost hear the groans from the crowd and See the slumped shouldered centre forward trudging back to the halfway line as clearly the majority of crosses don't find their man.

Not the greatest stat in the world. It doesn’t account for who’s on the receiving end. Though I guess it’s not a bad sign for Tommy when he’s got the carthorses Vokes and Gregory awaiting his delivery.

Ince takes up an awkward position neither on the wing not in the middle meaning the right back struggles to get a pass to him and also Ince hasn't drawn defenders to him leaving little space to overlap into. Mikkel Hansen at his barnstorming best would struggle with Ince playing like that. All that criticism of Bjarni ("fat, slow" e.t.c) however his positioning was superb for the over lapping fullback and he pinged great crosses in A classic example of brains being more important than pace. |

We need a new one otherwise as I said before last seasons left back problem will be this seasons right back problem. But I suppose at least Smith is an out and out right back! |
