Kane possibly, sterling definitely not By that definition now Sterling is world class. There’s not one club side he doesn’t get in imo. Yeah, and for me, he’s either close or there. His return in the last 3 seasons has been amazing. I don’t think his all round game is that impressive, he’s more just of a speed demon, but one that is scoring goal after goal. At present, he is a world class player, or very close.

Yet never delivered on the international stage, fucking bottle job like the rest of the England team And with fans like you, I can’t believe they haven’t. It’s so weird the way English fans love to batter our players. Fans of Spain, Italy, etc adore their team. We love to go round hammering them in the press / social media / etc. It’s weird. The most likeable and successful England team since 1990. You can’t reason with stupid mate.

Like I’ve said in the other thread I think he’s very close. He does score loads but imo he should score more, his finishing isn’t the best.

Yes because they turn up at international tournaments? We haven’t won fuck all since 1966 because players like sterling bottle it against the likes of Iceland.

If the best you can do is slag them off (and as zerps said, they are the most likeable squad since 1990) then let’s leave it there. They haven’t won anything and it’s a crying shame but if you think it’s because Sterling has bottled it, then it’s important that you’re corrected. Rather than be so critical and negative, just give being supportive a try. You never know

What were the excuses about losing to Croatia? I remember us being beaten by the better side eventually. The way they finished the game so strongly after we were on top early on was quite impressive, and obviously devastating. I can’t remember excuses, we played well all tournament and were eventually beaten fair and square. And Croatia are a better footballing nation than us. Population doesn’t matter.

We played well up until we came up against a decent side like Belgium or Croatia where we got our arses shown. Both are better football sides than us because we don’t have world class players. I’m not saying they do either but they are a dam sight better than ours.

We also beat Spain, away, with a fantastic performance. We did that because,in attack at least, we have world class players Centre of defence is a big problem. However any side in the world will worry about facing an England side with Kane,Sterling, Sancho or Rashford in it. Would expect lots of goals in England games.

The players you mentioned are potentially very good but not world class yet in my opinion

A yes man who will never rock the boat He proved he isn't by jettisoning Hart and Rooney pretty quickly. To be fair Lordb both those players were being hounded out by the media anyway. I like Southgate for what he is but I can’t help thinking there are loads of managers that could get even more out of those player’s. we have an envious forward line, and a decent international midfield. Defence is ropey but I’m not sure there’s a decent back line left in world football anymore. You can look at the the best club sides in Europe and their defence isn’t great. Bayern Munich have a poor defence and are European champions, PSG were as bad. The days of AC Milan style defences are over. It’s all about going forward and scoring more than the opposition.

The level of vitriol on this thread is pathetic. The guy took us to a semi-final with a team that was really not all that. He’s had a reasonable habit of selecting players that are young and playing those often in form. Again, he took England to the semi-finals. England, the average international team with the grand total of one world class player. It's just the world we live in. Post 1: Happy Birthday! Post 2: You're a fraud. Post 3: Didn't he once say something bad about something? Post 4: YouTube video of him beating up an old lady. Post 5: Would he be an improvement on MON though? 😁

That was easy to do, Hart is shit and overrated (remind you of anyone) and Rooney wished he had declared for Ireland and his heart was never really in it for England Incredible quote about Rooney. Dislike the man by all means but he was totally committed to England and indeed every club he has played for. His stats speak for themselves.

That's true None the less England's defence is particularly susceptible. The one side out there who can defend is Holland but they have next to nothing up front
