Got talking about this at work today: if you were to list, in order, the worst five inter-club rivalries, specifically where the fans really hate each other with a passion beyond reason, what would be on your list. Either foreign or domestic or both. I think our top three out of both foreign and domestic came out as: 1. Celtic and Rangers 2. Fenerbahce(sp?) and Galatasaray 3. Boca Juniors and River Plate We couldn’t get a consensus on the next two, although Partizan Belgrade and Red Star, plus Barcelona and Real Madrid came close to completing the top five. Perhaps not too surprisingly, Stoke and Vale didn’t even make the top ten

You need to put Liverpool/Everton on there
They truly despise each other

Juventus seem to have fairly serious rivalries with Torino, the other club from Turin and also with the two Milanese clubs, AC and Inter.

Down here it is Pompey and Saints, or Scum and skates , as they call each other, there is real hatred between the two and has been for many years.

You need to put Liverpool/Everton on there They truly despise each other ?? Really? Hasn't it always been known as the friendly derby? They have a very unifying scouse identity, then the shared tragedy of Hillsborough. I'd have said that's one of the least hate-filled rivalries in the country..

Intercity means when you are travelling between city’s for example - United v Liverpool and United v Leeds would be intercity rivalries. I’m not trying to be an arse I’m just trying to make sure I understand the question. Or is ‘Inter Club’ a new expression that I’m not familiar with?

Not inter city, that’s a defunct train service.

Roma Lazio is probably the most intense in Italy. Surprisingly, the Milan clubs seem to tolerate each other and In Inter's case there real hatred seems to be towards Juve.
If you are talking inter city rivalries, Ajax Feyenoord probably takes some beating. In this country Newcastle Sunderland is fairly heated

The Liverpool fans I know barely even mention Everton, ManU are the hated rivals. Maybe more intense from the Everton side I suppose.

Think their animosity is mainly towards Man Utd

I just asked his opinion and his words were "nah - it’s nowhere near as intense as Liverpool-Man U". Just got different perspectives I guess, the level of hatred has never seemed even close to Southampton Pompey for example.

Is it even considered a derby these days? Last time I checked it was always considered ‘the friendly derby’. No one wants that.
