I've just had to Google QAnon as I've never heard of them. Sounds like the plot of a Dan Brown novel, what a bunch of kooks đ Strangely enough they were mentioned in a BBC article a few days ago trying to suggest that there's a rumour that Trump is fighting against them. www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-53997203They seem like the sort of loons Louis Theroux meets to be honest.

Maybe the trump administration has a few, fire lighters scattered around But the trouble is there are plenty willing to bring the matches I would imagine every looted shop every burnt out building /car Every piece of vandalism will be siezed on by the trump camp and plastered on every available media outlet as a example of Democrats weakness on law and order There have been a spate of Interstate highway shootings and the Democrat mayor of Memphis asked the governor of Tennessee(Republican) for help so his police could concentrate on neighbourhood crime! Hardly being weak on crime, is it? Bloody awful place .huge crime rate which is obvious when you first set foot in the place which I suggest not to do.

When I went in 2017 , 40 years after Elvis's death, I could feel the racial tension. And of course it was the place where Martin Luther King was assassinated Thought I'd take the opportunity to post this. George R. Baugh, a childhood friend of Elvis who later worked as a security guard at Graceland: "One night we were leaving the fairgrounds at 4 a.m., we had just gone a few blocks when we saw a pickup truck on the side of the road. There was an elderly black couple inside. Elvis said to stop the car. Elvis got out and approached the truck and asked if he could help. Elvis got on his knees and looked under the truck and saw that the drive shaft was hanging down. Elvis told the couple that he would be right back and called the Ford Motor Company Salesman. Even at 4 a.m. they responded for Elvis. Elvis said "I want the best Ford pickup you have in stock...... Bring it to the fairgrounds front gate." They did, and he gave it to the couple. What a surprise it was for them." m.facebook.com/groups/1505943326394120?view=permalink&id=2777868225868284

Elvis was not extremely rich when he died as he kept giving all his wealth away to those around him throughout his life. Having come from a very poor and religious background he must have been very insecure about holding onto wealth. The "memphis mafia" did extremely well out of him.

Having come from a very poor and religious background he must have been very insecure about holding onto wealth. The "memphis mafia" did extremely well out of him. Yes, I've seen it MrCoke I think that he was intrinsically a good person. I think that is possible. From those who knew him, the most used word to describe him was " humility" followed by "humanity". I think that it is part of the reason he has an immense and loyal following. His was able to express his soul and feeling through the emotion of his songs. He never forgot his roots, in poverty in Shake Rag, the " black " part of Tupelo , then onto Memphis. Some of the black community helped his family out, they being poorer. I think it is significant that he kept his home in the City in which he grew up. In the two videos below I think it takes a lot of courage in the segregated Deep South to do what Myra Smith describes in relation to the gig in Texas. .....I think that it is easy to forget that he was an establishment rebel in the 1950s ( hence inspiring Dylan Lennon, Bowie, Robert Plant etc) and I honestly believe that he played a part in changing the culture, not just musical, in America between 1955 and 1960. You are right about his wealth ,I think he left about ÂŁ4m. There are many accounts of his spontaneous generosity and I am certain many more that he wanted to keep secret.....he got a " kick" out of helping others, and was able to do so.. Some people are like that. As Joe Moscheo says each Christmas in Memphis People would line up at Graceland , tell their story and receive a cheque from him. The link below shows his generosity, It's easy to be cynical in this day and age but some people do try to be good. Elvis Presley Supported Various Charities Throughout His Career www.elvis-history-blog.com/elvis-charity.htmlOne of Elvisâs favorite charities was St. Judeâs Hospital for children in Memphis. It was/ is pretty unique in not turning any children with serious condition away, irrespective of income, so heavily dependent on charity. The hospital costs about US$2.8 million a day to run, but patients are not charged for their care. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Jude_Children%27s_Research_Hospital

Thank BJ for your last post on Elvis. When discussing Elvis' charitable acts and generosity I am always reminded of Gary Pepper and the way Elvis befriended him. When I was young there was always a suspicion that the early charity acts were a publicity stunt organized by his manger. But gradually the news leaked out of Elvis's generosity such as Gary Pepper who contributed to the Elvis Monthly mag. and that Elvis was regularly asked to attend the Royal Command Performance each year, but politely declined and sent a huge cheque to the Variety Club's charity instead. www.elvis.com.au/presley/elvis-presley-and-gary-pepper.shtmlissuu.com/lesliehindman/docs/sale120_elvis/4
