I'm trying to grow a wildflower section in my garden and failing rather miserably as it is mostly weeds and grass. However, I've got this plant growing and I haven't a clue as to what it is. It's just over a Crouchy tall. Attachment Deleted

Itβs a triffid.
Suggest you chain it up.

It's wild or fuller's teasel. Ought to self seed easily enough. If you leave the seed heads on and don't cut it back, you may well find you get more birds coming into the garden - goldfinches seem to like mine.

Itβs a triffid. Suggest you chain it up. I'd love one of those to keep the cats at bay π Curry and/or lavender are plants they allegedly don't like. And/or a supersoaker water pistol. Went in the conservatory the other day to find one of the cheeky fuckers curled up on a chair! Stupid bugger nearly pulled the blinds down trying to get out, hopefully it won't be back.

I'd like some sort of water pistol arrangement attached to and controlled by the cctv, I could have hours of fun

Yes, as Leedsy says, and I was going to say teasel too, Dunnet --- please leave it if you can, and let it self-seed. Teasels are absolutely vital for wild bird food, and finches adore them. If you can't keep them in your garden, rather than destroying them I wonder if you could remove the seedheads when they've ripened and then scatter them in the countryside somewhere where they can be left to do their own thing in future years and constantly provide crucial food for the birds?
