I imagine Trump will be all for it since he was such a big fan of Brexit

I read somewhere that USA without California, California's economy would be bigger than the rest. And I think the 3rd Largest in The World. China Japan California

What will they pick for the national anthem- something by The Beach Boys, Katy Perry or Rage Against the Machine? 🤔

^ As an American, I'm not really sure what normal America is any more. At this point, I'm having a hard enough time remembering what life was like before COVID.

Everywhere else I go in the US, California is pretty much hated by the locals. They'd be happy to see California fuck off.

Is the USA more divided now than any time since the civil war?

Is the USA more divided now than any time since the civil war? Sadly, I'll have to say that's a bit of a rhetorical question now...but it may also be true of other countries as well.

Certainly bigger than the UK. With the way the Senate is structured I dont blame the California for wanting out. They get 2 senators with 40 million people. 40 of the states have less than 10 million and get 2 each. A fair few are less than a million. Coupled with the electoral college, that's a democratic deficit to make any Brexiteer get behind Calexit.

I only see the odd video of America but I do check Trump's Twitter fairly often. It's clear as day he wants to divide America with all the shit he comes out with. I find it weird how he answers himself quite often and retweets so many things at once, it's like he is trying to get rid of something off the page. I don't use Twitter myself but check his account as it's straight from the horse's mouth and he can't scream fake news at it although he still does. It does feel like he wants a civil war and all crap with the post ballots just make you think he is trying to rig the election. It's really weird because he talks about the system and the country like he isn't in charge and it's all rigged and the next minute he brags about how much power he has to do what he wants. It's just nuts how he blames the system which led to him getting into power is so rigged against him.

If he loses I cant see them backing him and all his militia types suddenly dont look so hard if they dont. But with every nutter having a gun it wknt be pretty either way.

If California left the Republicans could finally get their massive pensions/benefits/healthcare cuts done, which could help patch up the hole. Or they'd go their 2017 route and boom the deficit while digging deeper into the pockets of states like NY and New Jersey. Without California's political power, a lot of the southern states could be more open about bringing back Jim Crow too.

I'm not worried about any civil war. We may see more riots if Trump prevails (right leaning folks do not tend to riot in my observations), but I don't believe--at least I hope not--that any formal sides will be squaring off in any real biblical sense. I don't do twitter as it is an in-human shit hole. This doesn't mean I don't look at it on occasion, but I don't take anything Trump tweets out literally nor do I take Nancy's rhetoric literally either. I don't believe Trump wishes to divide America any more than the Dems do--perhaps I'm being naive, time will tell. I do get that some of you will always think anyone with a gun over here is a "nutter" as you say, but that's just not case and I think statistics bear that out; however, I guess I might have that same opinion if I were reading news about USA gun violence having grown up in a culture that is not used to having guns around.

I did not say everyone with a gun is a nutter, I said all the nutters have guns. Which still likely isnt literally true mind you. But it's an important difference. I know plenty of gun owners in the states. I wouldnt claim to have an understanding of such a vast and varied place but I've been to the states 20/30 times, the longest stay being 18 months. So I do have a lot of contact and friends to formulate some opinion. I dont do twitter either. Well not in any consistent or meaningful way.
