Who’s the main one on BT Sports Champions League commentary? I still like Alan Parry and Ian Darke I remember watching the world cup in a bar when I was in Texas. Ian Darke was commenting on a game and the guy that owned the bar said summat like “Dang I wish he could talk on American sport”

Not wishing to sound sexist (cos I’m not, honest) really don’t like the female commentators, analysts or hosts. Never been the same since Kenneth Wolstenholme RIP

Of the new wave I like Danny Higginbotham and Dean Ashton. Perhaps not popular opinion but to my liking. I really despise Prutton. I don’t even watc Stoke build up if it’s him. Yeah agree about Prutton always thinks we're going lose in his predictions Must be a Nottingham Forest thing.....Prutton, Birtles & Clever Trevor Francis.

Always found Mark Lawrenson quite entertaining, always had a dry comment at the right moment. Doesnt fit the BBC's image these days.

Every time I hear Prutton talking I find myself saying “shut the fuck up Prutton”. Like a mild Tourette’s. it’s got to the point where my Mrs has to remind me not to say it🤣

Andy Townsend is the worst I've ever seen H Standing joke in our house..... always gave MOM in England matches to Wilshere. He could have scored 3 ogs and conceded 8 pens abd Townsend would always say "I thought Jack Wilshere was outstanding tonight"

Worst ever - Trevor Francis or Alan Smith. Don't state the fucking obvious cos I can do that. I like a pundit who makes me think "Yeah, good point, I hadn't thought of that"

Johnny Acres deserves a mention. Great servant to commentary on Stoke matches along the way for Radio Stoke & certainly earnt his stripes as an entertaining TV match reporter when he commentated on the loose cat at Goodison Park. Stoke match coverage has never been the same since he got ousted from the post.
Sommat about Natalie Pinkham that makes her stand out on Formula One TV duties too! Mmm

I don't like Alan Shearer as a presenter/pundit but I really enjoy listening to him as a commentator. He seems to have a lot more humour and personality.

Ebony Rainford-Brent and Michael Holding have had an excellent summer with the cricket.
Stand out cricket commentator is Ian Smith.
Neville is in a whole league of his own in terms up punditry on football.
Personal choice but Martin Tyler is horrific to listen to.

If you're going on football reporting only than Stuart Hall took a lot of beating He could make a nill nill draw at Preston sound like the game of the season
I shan't delve into his off field activities

OK no not to my knowledge I’ve never heard him commentate. Unless anyone else can tell me any different. I’d imagine him to be decent on commentary. Don’t really mind his punditry either after a ropey start.

I've always thought James Richardson was the best pundit/presenter by a country mile. Agree, very knowledgeable too. Totally Football Show is a joy to listen to because of his anchoring skills. What's that on?

The ‘big game’ crew Sky roll out are the best in the industry imo.
Neville and Carragher know their stuff and have a lot to say. Think sometimes they sit on the fence but that’s why you put Souness and Keane with them.
Not a massive fan of Shearer, but apart from that the MOTD regulars are alright. Lineker, Jenas and Wright have stuff to add.
Robbie Savage is awful. But I weirdly find McNamanam bearable. Don’t personally think he’s that bad. Has a meltdown on commentary every so often which is entertaining.
MO’N’s biggest fan Colin Murray is good as well. What happened to Manish Bhasin?

I guess the one thing this thread has already proved is that nobody can agree on who is good or bad. So with that in mind maybe it’s not such a bad idea to freshen up Soccer Saturday🤷🏻♂️
