If you live anywhere near the hospital, they are always looking for porters, they like to employ older people too as the job demands maturity.
Look the money isn't the best and it can be hard work but it's an honest trade, it's a job where you're helping folks and more importantly it's very, very secure work.

It’s about time us old fuckers were treated like every other minority group and given everything we want.

Normally I would walk into another job of a similar type but that particular industry has been obliterated by COVID so now need to change career. There’s still plenty of vacancies out there but they are quickly being filled so just got to keep trying and not give up. Best of luck in your search, hope you get a cushy little number 😉

There's supposedly many oppos in the delivery industry, as we keep hearing the environments aren't always the best, even though Amazon try to persuade us otherwise. I'm not being fooled by the fact Donna brings in her cakes on a Thursday either. As people said, anything to do with medicine right now is in huge demand. Or retrain, plenty of chippys, brickies and plumbers will be needed if this housing boom does take hold. I'd perhaps avoid the travel industry right now though.

Social care staff (esp through agencies) seem to have plenty of work round here currently , not for everyone and money not great though. Good luck anyway Tony, fingers crossed for some luck for you.

My old man works at the Harplands. Been in the trade all his life, finished quite a few years back though as getting to old. Gets plenty of hours, as you say, secure work. Keeps him happy

Got any transferable skills ? Please don't believe the bullshit that absolutely nowhere is hiring. Don't aim low for the sake of it either. There are plenty of places hiring and if you have some skills that are transferable, there's always a chance someone will see some potential there and give you an opportunity.

Pal of mine is an amazon driver, earns good wages, flexi hours and ok conditions. Even Hermes are getting it right. That's what I'd be doing. Avoid at all cost trade plate driving. A bigger bunch of twats you will never meet.

My old man was the former, and would regularly do 18 hours a day, getting trains from random stations, thumbing it, horrible stuff.

Trade plate driving. I did it for one day and handed my notice in immediately at the end of the shift , Friday night. Like to think i'm a conscientious guy so said i'd do the Saturday taking a van to Bristol docks with another bloke, what could possibly go wrong !!! Won't bore you with it all but pretended i was asleep on a London to Stoke train to avoid the fare, i'm sure i got off at Stone ( Friday shift ) , but must be memory playing tricks as London trains wouldn't stop at Stone. 2 horrific days work of possibly 30 hours combined and i earnt a total of about 50 quid !!!

If you’ve got any experience in construction, even if you’re quite handy with DIY for working private. There’s absolutely tonnes of work around. I’m a chippy who works predominantly private and most are busier than ever.

Supermarkets or DIY places are worth a look, or anywhere else that's had a 'gpod' pandemic.
Mates have done short term delivery driving due to losing jobs over covid, but are getting out asap as it's pretty gruelling.
Good luck.

3 negative tests at the height of the infection, then a positive 2 weeks ago-though no symptoms. Negative result last Thursday. I don't think I can die!
How are you doing?
